Steady on now. Have you got a short-term memory? Jimmy Savile was ADORED by the British public for his charity efforts before any of the sex allegations came out. It would be in the interests of any British PM to be seen with such an individual for good PR. I don't think the fact that he was invited round to Number 10 for tea and biscuits = interlinked pedophile ring/coverup involving the government of the day. It's far too easy to get caught up in what's alleged in the press, and just remember that it's very easy to accuse somebody of something once they're no longer alive and kicking and here to defend themselves, by offering evidence to the contrary or providing alibis. And it just so happens that all 4 of the names given by the chap in that article you just posted are now deceased. The man seems very confident to speak out about it in interviews - not at all shaken or traumatised (so not acting as if he's been afraid or even embarrassed to talk about it for years)... which makes me wonder, why hasn't he done it before now? Especially seeing as several of those names were still alive until a few years ago and could've been brought to justice? I don't dispute for one minute that individuals like Sir Jimmy or Sir Peter Morrison were guilty - where the evidence is overwhelming against them. But when you get one person selling a story to the papers and making rogue claims against a score of other individuals who have never been mentioned before, you have to seriously consider that some individuals may just be jumping on the bandwagon to fabricate stories of dead public figures (who can't defend themselves or disprove them) in order to make themselves some wonga. I can see how individuals like Sir Peter Morrison took vulnerable individuals into his hands and abused them, and how people around them who knew about it chose to cover it up to escape bad PR BUT I simply don't believe that any government of the day was a secret pedophile machine - that's David Icke conspiracy level shite.

Reports are coming in where? Where have you heard this? Is this from the "well informed driver" that told you Denis Norden had died but the government were concealing it until the time was right or some shit? Sum 1 on twitter said it.cant find any news reports of it though That doesn't translate to "reports coming in". People tweeted last week about Macaulay Culkin and Miley Cyrus dying. One person's weasel words do not = reports.

Surely to qualify as a "Victorian", you have to have been a subject of the monarch of the day. Therefore there are only 2 - the UK's Ethel Lang, and Violet Brown from Jamaica, who is a little older. Hopefully Ethel outlives the Jamaican lady, only seen appropriate that the last Victorian alive is from Britain!

I think people are getting very mixed up here. Ireland was, at a point a British colony - we occupied it (and for the record, Scotland before being in the Union declared it as Ulster in 1620). Given settlements, occupations, conflict on the island, that's why there's so much turmoil in Northern Irish politics. Totally different situation here in Scotland - we were never a colony, never occupied during the duration of the Union. We signed the dotted line, and until recent years, the idea of separating from the rest of Great Britain, and indeed the United Kingdom, would've been laughable. I had very little time for the man but I'm sure he understood this vital difference all too well which is why when he was questioned on the matter last year, he didn't give an endorsement to either side, and simply stated that it was the democratic decision of Scots to decide their own future.

Both are alive and should obit on the day they die (and if not the day after). I suspect Wilson may die first as Clarissa is still pretty active despite being so old.

"Contrary to certain website reports, Eoin Young is still with us. A report from NZ 20 minutes ago reports he remains in Intensive Care."

Who the fuck called this thread "Joan Rivers, Please Lord". The woman is absolutely hilarious. She's part of a rare breed nowadays - comedians who are not afraid to say what they think and cross into areas that others feel are "too sensitive" or "off limits". Hope she pulls through.

Liverpool Echo have since removed it and put up a new article stating it was misinformation. He's alive and well apparently.

So's voting yes in our referendum. So you would rather have a government that you didn't vote for rule us SMART THINKING Well I vote Tory, so I got the government I voted for. In fact, we have a coalition government of Tory + Lib. More people voted for Tory + Lib combined in Scotland than did for the SNP. The only party who can claim they're hard done by general election results in Scotland is Labour, and they're one of the parties calling for the UK to stay together! They know they'll be screwed down south if Scotland goes its separate ways, and they'll be screwed up north. Why? Scotland was, until SNP rise, the only part of the UK to EVER produce a majority Tory vote. It's a myth to say majority of Scots are Labour lovers and the centre right isn't prevalent in Scottish politics. In an independent Scotland, Labour will be screwed, SNP may splinter and cease to exist (although I doubt it), but one thing's for sure - you probably won't get the party you want in anymore than you do now. All the parties will change and you may not like the way they change one bit. But everyone who's voting yes seems to think they will. Hard-line lefties think an indy Scotland will be a socialist utopia, and the tartan right think it'll be a business haven. Can't be both... All this "An independent Scotland will be..." garbage is very telling of one thing - a lot of people have their heads in the clouds and are too ready to take a massive gamble because "it may" result in the type of government they want. Ummm, I'll stick to the current system I think. And about 75% of our affairs are taken care of in Holyrood anyway. You can't claim we don't get the gov we voted for there The only matters left to Westminster are ones we should be dealing with as a union of nations - defence namely. Just out of a recession, now's not the time to be forking out money to create a Scottish Armed Forces from scratch... nor would it be as effective as one which is combined of E&W, Sco + NI.

6 hits, 10 misses. I think that makes this a record breaking year.Never before has there been as many as 16 deathlist names gone before the end of august ! You don't quite get it do you? That's like going into a casino, putting it all on red, it comes out black and then saying "but I had red last time I was here". Doesn't count.

Another fantastic miss for DL, bravo to whoever it was on the committee who said "let's drop him" in place of individuals like James Randi and Tony Bennett who are in fine health. Especially given that there were repeated reports of ill health and a major hospitalisation last year. How many more misses than hits are we on now?

"7) Sir Sean Connery: Regarded by many as the best of the James Bond actors, Sir Sean’s lucrative film career and his politics have played a big part in his choice of residence. The first of two actors on the list, he left Britain in the seventies, moving first to Spain, then to the Bahamas in 1999. Whilst he undoubtedly saved millions in tax, he states it is a political move: “Like a lot of Scots abroad I look forward to coming home to an independent Scotland”." Hopefully that'll mean he won't be coming back then. I met him years ago too, bit of a grumpy old twat to be honest.
