Euro blocked site. Classic example of someone who wouldn’t have a Wiki page had they not reached 100.

    Political Frailty

She's a total knob. 3 time loser. Last time she stormed out of the count red faced in disgust at the result. The Libs have nobody better to put up. Sadly she'll probably win this time and be a one term MP.

I didn't say he had the Whip removed. You did. You can surrender the Whip and opt to sit as an independent.

That's not true. He has left the whip by his own choice, and is still voting with the Government / using another Tory MP as a proxy vote. As I already said in the political rants thread – Wragg himself is not in trouble. He volunteered to speak to the police and is being treated as a victim, as will the other MPs who have been involved in this honeytrap scandal. This is not a resignation/by-election issue by any means. Putting things you don't know anything about aside, I'm sad to hear about the passings of both Andrew Stunnell and his predecessor, Tom Arnold. Both gentlemen.

    Thatcher's First Ministry

Saw this last night in the Times. His attendance is still great for his age so I’m not sure. He’s the longest serving member of the House. Joined in 1962.

Authors Last A Long Time, But....

Works both ways. I've heard Nats refer to sporting heroes like Chris Hoy or Andy Murray as Scottish, then when it's Dennis Nilsen or Peter Tobin they're talking about, suddenly they're "British"!

Authors Last A Long Time, But....

His page could go either way. I'd argue that it should say British, same with Kate Bush, Jacqueline Wilson, Jools Holland etc. – if they have a UK wide influence and don't have publicly known views about favouring an English identity then it should say British. Though I just really cba going through 1000s of pages, whilst having 100s of edit wars on the way with other users who think different.

Authors Last A Long Time, But....

Interestingly, there's never really been a strict rule on Wiki about this but there's an unwritten consensus – if they're a footballer/cricketer/rugby player etc (ie any sport where there are teams for all respective countries of the UK) that you describe them as Scottish/English/Welsh. Similarly for politicians who are not serving in UK wide roles (e.g. MSPs, Ams, councillors). Similarly for anyone in the arts (actor, artist, writer etc) who describes themselves as Scottish above British (it's done as a matter of respect and same rule would apply to Manx, Catalonian, Kashmiri persons etc.) but generally speaking we use "British" for anyone else, especially if they have lived in more than one country of the UK. In the case of Sansom he was from Edinburgh, lived in Sussex, and didn't overwhelmingly identify himself as being "just" Scottish so therefore we say he's British.

Authors Last A Long Time, But....

It was a joke. I was more so referring to the "is he Scottish/is he British" type thing that Scots accuse English people of playing on depending on if Andy Murray is winning or losing a tournament. Anyway, full Telegraph obit for Sansom. Definitely a pre-written one. The last paragraph tells us why. He had multiple myeloma since 2012. Was this public knowledge and did he ever discuss it on here?

Glad to see you're no longer a Scottish nationalist.

Looking at the 92 hereditaries still in the House of Lords, there are 27 who are 75+ this year. Checking their attendance and voting records, they've all been present this year with the exception of just one: Lord Willoughby de Broke (wiki), turning 86 is September. Once a Tory peer, then UKIP, and now non-affiliated. He last spoke in 2020 and last voted in 2021. May just be sick of the place and refusing to retire, may be at death's door. Who knows, but worth keeping an eye on.
  14. As some of you may already be aware, Cat O'Falk sadly died on 16 April 2021, aged just 63.

Watching TalkTV earlier (god knows why). They were discussing the vote of no confidence in Humza Useless next week. Apparently one of the opposition MSPs is “too ill to attend”. Anyone know who it could be?

Probably a mini stroke. They’re quite scary but it would be expected for a man his age to make a full recovery.

https://realrawnews.com/2024/04/klaus-schwabs-health-deteriorating-after-arrest/ “doctors question whether the maniacal megalomaniac will live long enough to stand trial for crimes against humanity.” Seems totally legit to me.
