Norman Irons and James Douglas-Hamilton died just a few days apart and were both candidates for the Edinburgh West seat at the 1987 UK General Election. Hamilton narrowly held the seat against his Liberal challenger, Derek G. King (b. 1949), who seems to still be alive. The fourth candidate, Labour's Mike McGregor (former Edinburgh councillor, b. 1940), is not only still alive too, but has just tweeted about their deaths:
