Oops, looks like someone's uploaded the wrong file from the obit server... -
So what Alex Salmond died then? You wouldn't exactly be choked, would you? It is a well documented fact that I hate that man. But I can't ever see myself protesting at his funeral... We'll see about that post-2014 shall we? He may have played kissy kissy with the establishment when Thatch went but she may have contributed a fair few percentage points to independence you know...

Surviving pre-1955 MPs: 1945 - John Freeman (Lab) 1950 - Tony Benn (Lab) 1951 - Donald Chapman (Lab) 1952 - Denis Healey (Lab) 1953 - Roy Mason (Lab) 1954 - James Ramsden (Con), Sir John Eden (Con) Incidentally, Thatcher was the longest surviving female MP as she was first elected in 1959. The next two are the two Shirley's - Summerskill and Williams who were both elected in 1964.

Summer Olympic Deaths/Dead Medallists

Here is a reminder of the rules: Now of course with a lot of rules, this is open to interpretation. I felt though that the best you could throw at me with Pardee just didn't quite cut it. It must be from an accessible source and written down. If that link was from AP then I would have probably accepted it. But it seemed to be from the Saginaw Pig Fertilizer Gazette or something, which isn't good enough... -

Depends on what part of Sky you're talking about. If it was a brief piece on the main news site saying "Jack Pardee is dead" then that might be acceptable. But it seemed to be tucked away in some obscure part and was just a link to an external site that wasn't even AP. So I thought I needed a bit more meat than that... EDIT: I'm actually quite surprised that the old standby of the Guardian Worldfeed article didn't come up with the goods.. -
He takes me back to those long gone times of a Labour Government in the 70s and Franklin, the Sun newspapers cartoonist. Was it really that long ago? Who is the one in the middle meant to be? Possibly Merlyn Rees, Home Secretary under Wilson & Callaghan. Makes sense. That makes half the people in the cartoon still living - not bad for 34 years after Labour lost power. Less than half, actually. Only Benn and Healey are still alive... Maggie? You were saying?

John Freeman Only survivor from 1945. Tony Benn was first elected in November 1950...

Usual drill as with John Glover, then... -
Dimbles got to emulate his father, who commentated on Churchill's funeral in 1965. He died 11 months later...

You would have felt even more of a dick if it was Boston in Lincolnshire... Well, actually I don't feel a dick now - the mutual friend who told us 'don't worry, she's in Ireland' was wrong, and she is in Boston USA. Thankfully have received a message, she is fine Ahh, I think your friend was being a little bit facetious considering the fact that said city is famous for it's population if Irish extraction... -
I think that tells us all we need to know...

I find your lack of puns disturbing...

Well they do have a Holocaust museum The holocaust museum is to commemorate and pay tribute to the lives lost. If they really wanted to do something as a memorial then it should be a job center. They already have something memorial, the Thatcher Gates at 10 Downing Street, erected in 1990 to stop irate poll tax non-payers from strangling her and that's the God's honest truth.

The penny dropped this afternoon. "Not lying in State" be damned, this is a state funeral. Big Ben silenced, Queen turns up, gun carriage and soldiers in attendance and carrying the coffin, probably a gun salute too. Now if the establishment had been honest about this and said, yes this is a state funeral now what the fuck are you going to do about it, I would understand as we all half expected this to happen anyway. This though is clearly an attempt to sneak one through the back door and was a part of the plan all along, to somehow assuage some of those who were not that well discerned towards the Baroness and suggest somehow that this isn't a state funeral. It is, so stop pissing about. I smell the whiff of Cameron about this...

I had no idea she was married to Robin Ray off of 'Call My Bluff' until I was researching for the DDP... -
And Cameron is leading us when we're coming out of a War on Terror, so he should get more credit as well. Credit for what? Slashing public services? Yielding to the right-wing of his party in a way that Thatcher never would? Irony detector: faulty...

Well it depends doesn't it? The secret ballot nature of DDP means she might not be picked at all, picked by one or, if she announces terminal cancer on December 1st, picked by hundreds!
