    Quantickgate

Incidentially the email message from Mr. Quantick initially appeared in the junk e-mail folder of the DDP's Outlook account. I happened to notice it when doing a quick scan...

    Quantickgate

Does he want me to remove the other 870 or so dead celebs in case we cause offence? And of all fucking people, Steven Wells, the oh so iconoclastic journo too... Not sure how to respond. Any suggestions? Unbelievable! The man who helped write Brass Eye getting hot under the collar about causing offence! Didn't he play a leading role in coming up with " " It must be an imposter, surely? I'd politely provide him with a link the the rules, inform him you cannot accede to his request but that you welcome all feedback, accuse him of causing offence to the family of Albert Camus, and then go on to ask him if he is related to any of the inbred, dribbling, dentally challenged, cross eyed, deranged fuckwits called Quantick who are so prevelant in Devon. Yes, I wonder if this 'David Quantick' is the real deal or just some knob trying it on... It mystifies me... Is anyone on here use Twitter? Maybe they can throw that across to him, see how he responds... According to his wikipedia entry that he probably authored himself, he's a third rate comedy hack with a big ego (reading between the lines). It says: So he's quite happy to dish shit on others. I wouldn't even grace his email with a polite "fuck off" in reply. Coincidentally, without ever having heard of him before, I was reading a column by him in the Telegraph yesterday and wondering why they were printing such crap before I remembered it was August, then I logged on here and saw his name raised again. Yes, I read that. About Monty Python, who once had a sketch about undertakers inviting clients to eat their dead mother and at the end of Life of Brian had a song which went: Life's a piece of shit When you look at it Life's a laugh And death's a joke, it's true You'll see it's all a show Keep 'em laughing as you go Just remember that the last laugh is on you Perhaps he's getting old and straying into Daily Mail territory, as a few of his NME contemporaries are....

Dead. Woot! Another DDP hit! A unique pick as well, so that's 7 more points in the pocket. Still waiting on a UK obit however... Here it is The Herald? Does that count? EDIT: I've checked. It does, carry on...

Most Significant Death Of Each Month

Go on then you lead the way and let's see how obscure we can make it Silus P Wankshaft IV, inventor of trusses for mice, died yesterday... YAY!!!!!! Points on my DDP. Unfortunately he was executed by firing squad in Bolivia, so no points for you...

    Deathlist 2010 Feedback

It is indeed look quite pitiful at the moment, but DeathList has a history of setting things right (at least to some extent) over the full year. There have a been a few instances over the years where there have been 3 (or more) successes in the space of a week or so. Clearly (well...maybe) that's what 2010 has in store for us. The longer the drought, the bigger the storm when it comes...or that's my theory anyway 1997 is a case in point. I shouldn't be the one to grumble though...my DDP score is fucking awful at the moment!

    Deathlist 2010 Feedback

    Well indeed. Here's what previous lists have done since the 50 name format was introduced, going into August: 1994 - 7 1995 - 5 1996 - 7 1997 - 3 (6 hits in the last 5 months) 1998 - 6 1999 - 6 2000 - 9 2001 - 7 2002 - 8 2003 - 8 2004 - 5 2005 - 8 2006 - 7 2007 - 7 2008 - 10 2009 - 6 So yes, it looks as if the Deathlist is heading for its poorest year since 1998...

    Football

It's like something out of Mike Bassett!
  18. He kicked the bucket while staying at Young's ranch. It's the Curse of Neil (Whitten, Berry, Nitzsche, Briggs, Palmer, Snodgress, Larson, Dewey Martin, Rick James, his kids etc), I tells ya. The only people immune are Crosby, Stills and fucking Nash. And he wrote 'Like A Hurricane' and look what happened to him?

I think its been a cracking tour. Unless he decides to finish with a flourish and win at the Champs-Élysées, Contador becomes the first rider to win the tour without winning a stage since Greg LeMond in 1990...
