No doubt Michael Jackson was not only the most significant death of the year, he was probably the most significant death of the decade. December so far is a pretty lackadasical month in terms of celebrity deaths (especially compared to the last previous Decembers). So far, only Richard Todd and Gene Barry have died this past December and both were already in their early 90s. Then again, it seems like things have slowed down quite a bit since Patrick Swayze and Mary Travers died in mid-September. Anyway, just as a thought. Say Tiger Woods did perish in that car crash. His death would've most likely eclipsed Michael Jackson's as both the most significant death of the year and of the decade. That's how much of an icon Tiger Woods is. The media coverage would probably have been even more in depth had, say, Tiger Woods died in that car accident. The media coverage has been far more interesting about Tiger than we hoped possible, all sparked off by that bizarre 'crash'...
