There's a mention now - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8258970.stm, however it does not mention this Edge of Darkness to which you refer. But it does mention Kelly's Heroes - I like that film, especially the theme song. Yeah, I like that film too. I had no idea he wrote that...

I'm puzzled as to why the BBC still haven't mentioned Troy Kennedy Martin, seeing as he created one of the corporations most iconic series of the 1960s, Z Cars and wrote the best drama of the 80s, Edge of Darkness..

Paula Yates, bastard child of Hughie Green and mother of Peaches Geldof, died of a drugs overdose today in 2000... -
Swayze is barely cold. So 'calm the heid'. I'm sure the site will be updated in due course... Yeah, I mentioned it in the Dead Drummers thread but I should have mentioned it here: I'm waiting a little bit to see if Bobby Graham gets a proper obit for Death's Primetime and DevonDeathTrip, that way I only have to update once. Hooray for Jägermeister! BBC reports his death in a music News in Brief... is that adequate? Yup, that'll do! Mary Travers got a New York Times obit, so I'll update for all three tomorrow. I have: Graham: Death's Primetime, DevonDeathTrip Swayze: 2 Farts and a Splash, Canadian Paul, Dead to the World, Death Impends, Death's Primetime, Handrejka's Smorgueasboard, Misers, Never Came To Maryport, Octopus of Odstock, Simfish InquilineKea, STAB_in-the_DARK, The Unknown Man's Horsemen of Apocalypse, To Die For, Vaagheid, Windsor the Troll Travers: Death Impends, Misers, Octopus of Odstock If that's wrong, let me know! Yeah, I've got her too, in my Morecambe & Wise theme team!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LARD... -
Never mind that sh*t, he was the writer of possibly the greatest British TV series ever, Edge of Darkness... He did, but I think The Italian Job is much more widely known, and I haven't ever seen Edge of Darkness. I was working abroad in 1985 when it was first aired. Presumably its been repeated since but it has passed me by. I see from Wikipedia that there's a remake due out next year starring Mel Gibson. I'm more inclined to seek out the original on DVD (as soon as I finish the Prime Suspect box set). You can download the original from here Thanks, but with the speed of my connection, it'll be just as quick waiting for the post! Besides, it'll be just like Christmas. Can someone settle an argument between me and my 8 - year - old cousin, please? Is Matthew Corbett, who presented and wrote the classic kids' show Sooty, dead? I know he had leukemia - but my cousin says he's died. If he has, it's a great shame. I loved Sooty as a boy. Still alive...

BTW I wasn't knocking The Italian Job, merely using Olsen Johnson's phrase from Blazing Saddles to emphasise the importance of EOD...

He died on the Monday, which means he was 24 hrs shy of the Unlucky 13 bonus on DDP... Still, you can't have it all. He lost a brave fight. RIP

Doesn't have quite the same impact as others as he's got about forty of them!

Paul Shane most likely....... Met Paul Shane two years ago in Tenerife in a pub... quite a disgusting, grubby little git in general.... very unkept, couldn't even stand up... not really an aspiring way to see one of the ppl who was there day in, day out throughout your childhood....

Top of the Pops!

Definitely famous enough and certainly ill enough. He won an Emmy award for "Prime Suspect" and wrote the superb but underrated "Looking After Jo Jo", which starred Robert Carlisle. IMDB page. Don't forget "The Grass Arena", one of the greatest TV plays ever...

Muy interesante. I remember Bob Hoskins at his career peak, starring in such classics as Super Mario Brothers and Doomsday. He also starred in the classic 1978 BBC drama 'Pennies From Heaven' and superb gangster thriller 'The Long Good Friday' in 1980, he's also recieved recent acclaim for his performance in Jimmy McGovern's 'The Street', so Mr Hoskin's CV is somewhat better than that Alum. Remember, DeNiro was in 'Rocky and Bullwinkle'...
