The hoax, which didn't originate on DL, has made the papers. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/culturemon...y-gelbarts.html It's a shame that the story was revealed to be hoax, because Larry Gelbart has just died. Are you in tune with my brainwaves today Devon? I was only reading about Larry Gelbart and M*A*S*H earlier this evening...

There's a TV programme next monday (14th) on Channel 4, Keith Meets Keith, where Floyd is tracked down by Keith 'Lily's dad' Allen.. Worth a gander to see his current state. Unless it's a repeat of course...

Mother Teresa died on this day in 1997... Boy, did she pick the wrong week to die... -
That's a shame, he wrote some very funny stuff (if not recently). The first book I remember making me laugh out loud was "Billy Liar". Shame he turned into a right-wing old bore, but then they all do in the end... I think it might have been some kind of illness because he wrote his last article for the Daily Maul a few weeks ago and it was promoted as such.

Sad to hear that news. He was an acquaintance, rather than a friend, of mine back in the Britpop days. We bought each other a beer or two as we propped up the bar at the Garage or Dingwalls while slagging off some no-hoper indie band or other. Hey-ho, that was the scene. RIP. I wish their previous manager would suddenly drop dead. Make my day that would.... In case anyone was wondering, that was Mr Gervais. Maybe this is the place to declare my own personal Pete Bestness, as we turned down Nude Records about a month before they signed Suede and went on to world (oh alright, London) domination. Probably for the best, it's a sh*t business. Etc. And who is this 'we'? Was this a bid for pop superstardom? C'mon, spill the beans...

Which is more or less saying "we'll do as we please, so bugger you you ignorant bunch of leftie scum" I had the same unfortunate mail too, which just goes to prove all petitions are cock. We can therefore feel justified in walking past the poor naive clipboarders hanging around our local pedestrianized thoroughfares as indeed our signatures are not worth the paper they are written on. Although the petitions are spin and propaganda, NAP's succinct comment "so bugger you you ignorant bunch of leftie scum" is valid, but probably not from Gordon's government. I still reckon Thatcher will avoid going down the road of a big state funeral (a la Churchill). Big Memorial service, yes most probably, but not a big funeral...
