    The Dead Of 2009

That's a shame. Coincidentially I've just been listening to former SM bass player Kevin Ayers. Hopper didn't look too good when I saw in in a documentary about Robert Wyatt a couple of years back...

Irate Visitors Rage Here, If You Must.

Agreed, it's quiet but it hadn't struck me as terminal. We could have an 'introduce a friend' scheme, seriously. Or leave business cards in London phone boxes......on second thoughts, that sucks. Or cook up some 'event' in which one of us posts something outrageous and one of us anonymously complains to the papers, always good for a bit of traffic that one. Aye but there seems no shortage of new members, it's just that most turn out to be diarrhea posters and few of those who aren't, bother to stick around. The one by Madcow the other day was quite provocative, having a go at Brussels sprouts and all that, but will she return? We've had a few mad cows in the past who have been quite entertaining for a while but they never stay the course. It's the existing members (including me) who are not tuning in as much as they used to do. I mean I don't miss the scream, not one bit (well maybe a tiny little bit). But where are the slaves? Where's Lady Die and Boudicca? What happened to TLC? Why did Tempus Fugit work so hard to wipe away his presence? Is he standing for Parliament or something (I wish I knew how to spell 'something')? Maybe generating a bit of adverse publicity wouldn't be a bad idea. Facebook has a lot to answer for. Maybe Deathlist should have its own Facebook site...

Fings Aint Wot They Used To Be..

'Viewers Cheated' eh? More like Stuart 'Ain't done Much Since Ain't Half Hot Mum!, mum!' McGugan feels cheated out of his full repeat fees. I wonder who would win between him and Tutti Frutti's Bomber in a fight? Tutti Frutti was one of the best TV series of the eighties, itself a great decade for TV drama. My family have two VHS cassettes of it, but unfortunately one of them is worn out through overplaying...

    Edward Kennedy/Curse of the Kennedys

I'd settle for someone who doesn't get elected just because his last name is Kennedy. Still better than someone who gets elected because his / her last name is Bush. Neither choice is good. My point is the mindless selection based on someone's family name rather than their political agenda, intellect or some sort of rational selection criteria is disappointing. Clinton....

    Death Anniversary Thread

Fair enough TMIB, but if you read my post properly you would see that I did say that I wasn't sure if this was the correct thread. I'm very disappointed that you singled out my post and completely ignored mpfc's which surely has far less relevance here, what has Carlisle winning promotion got to do with 'death' anniversaries? At least VE day is the anniversary of the end of the European part of a conflict that caused an estimated 72 million deaths. I meant in general LG and I didn't single you out. You are not mentioned or quoted. Maybe you should read my post properly... I know I was not mentioned nor quoted TMIB, but you did choose my post about 'VE Day' and not 'VE Day and St. Jimmy's Day' , I specifically mentioned that I only posted VE Day because of the 'St. Jimmy's Day', that was the point I was trying to make, it was out of place in here so why shouldn't I post something not specific to a person too. Forget it. I start a thread with good intentions, spread a bit of knowledge around and I get picked at from all sides, from members to cunty cowardly snipers or 'Guests' as we call them. Wish I hadn't f****n' bothered now...

I think you need a new history book, or is this just (as the reply stats would suggest) your personal thread to trawl up whatever you find on wiki? Actually much of the info I flinch is from NNDB, which dedicates itself to famous or noted people popping their clogs.. What's it to you anyway, fuckface?

The VE reference was an example, but MPFC's Carlisle celebration is duly noted. I think you got on your high horse by mentioning this World War business. Don't you know Jimmy Glass's goal was the most important event in history?

    Death Anniversary Thread

Sorry to be priggish, but this is not a general anniversary thread, but to do with deaths. So VE day no, Battle of the Somme yes! For instance, today is the anniversary of the murder of the former Italian PM Aldo Moro, by the Red Brigades in 1978... Ex-Prime Ministers getting murdered by terrorists? Could happen. If I was Mr Bliar, I'd be very careful..

    Fleetwood Mac

Sorry DDT, despite an abundance of chrome domes and grey beards, pretty much all of Mac Mk I looked hale and hearty. Green and Spencer seemed surprisingly sane as well. Producer Mike Vernon, John Mayall and ex-roadie/tour manager Dennis Keane also in good form, and all had hair. The only one missing was Danny Kirwan. I'm trying to think who McVie reminds me of - snooker loopy John Virgo, perhaps? When the cocaine was getting passed around in the 1970s, was McVie asking "Where's the White going?" ...I'll get me coat!

    From Cleric To Relic

Not to mention Susan Atkins and Norman Wisdom who we thought would be lucky to see in 2009. I did get Cundy though... All the above are on my team, but there's 7 months or so to go, maybe they're just pacing themselves...

You can say that again. I've been waiting ages for a second hit! Well, he was on my team last year (I'm such a pioneering trendsetter!) but I dropped him to the sub's bench after he failed to take his chances to score. I must say I'm a little disappointed with my team's preformance so far this year, I hope to make amends in 2010. Anyway, I'm going abroad for a week (to Kuwait of all places), when I come back I fully expect to have scored more points. Isn't it amazing that Bobby Robson, Ted Kennedy, Bob Novak and Patrick Swayze are all still alive? Whaddya mean, you're third! Before today, I was in glorious joint 191st place! My, you have high standards. Still, consider yourself fortunate Heaven Knows didn't pick him, otherwise he'd be over the hill and far away...

Fings Aint Wot They Used To Be..

I didn't get where I am today by trying to give classic sitcoms a 21st century makeover. Great? Super? I think not. While we're on the subject of TV, bring back the days when the I in ITV really stood for Independent - lots of smallish regional companies with their own distinct identities rather than this nationwide conglomeration with its impersonal corporate branding applied to everything but the local news programmes. Anglia, Southern, Westward...we miss you. They've got rid of the South Bank Show now... I've got a brilliant idea for a new show. The South Wank Show. Each week a celebrity sits on the embankment and has a wank, and then Melvyn Twatt reviews the performance. It'll be a ratings winner, Tom. Couldn't be any worse than the programme on Will Young I suppose...
