Formula 1 & Other Motor Racing

Well if Lewis & McLaren didn't tell fibs & cheated, then they wouldn't have lost points. Bizarre. All they had to do was tell the truth, and at worst they would've lost 1 point - and if Brawn & Toyota are proved illegal (which I doubt), then they would've won. Now they've got nothing & look like cheats. To top this, they've sacked their team manager & Lewis has been grovelling today big style. Very, very strange behaviour. This is all I've got to say about it - I haven't got time for all the side issues above. Besides, is all this the correct thread? Surely, we should have an F1 extra-curricular thread for the discussion, a la football & leave the rest of the thread for illness & death related info (as per the football thread & the Final Whistle or whatever the death football one is) .... Is this possible? Time Added...

With all this financial crisis going on I wouldn't be surprised if Offshore Account (33/1) crosses the line first. There's always a story every year at the Grand National. Remember Party Politics winning 5 days before the General Election in 1992?

    Comedic Euthanasia?

Drop Dead Fred is an old favourite of mine. Granted I first saw it when I was about 10, I still regard it as one of the funniest films I have seen (probably due to nostalgia). I too like 'Bottom', but then I'm someone who doesn't mind non-intellectual, cheap-laugh comedy. When I was in my first years of secondary school, it was a legendary programme amongst my friends. One of the circulating quotes being, "I believe that our diet...has something to do with what we eat...". Like I say, there isn't much to do up this way. Aahh young man, left with the crumbs after we engorged on The Young Ones, Filthy, Rich & Catflap and the Comic Strip Presents. You missed out son....

    Comedic Euthanasia?

Not seen This Is Spinal Tap or The King of Comedy then... The strange thing that struck me about the Office is that it's a spoof documentary without the voice over or the participation of a spoof documentary maker, which is the case in virtually all mockumentaries including the disgraced Chris Langhams' People Like Us, made before the Office... I wouldn't call Spinal Tap "uncomfortable to watch" humour, certainly not in relation to The Office. Unless you're Jimmy Page or Rob Halford, perhaps. Mock documentary, long embarrasing pauses between lines, shots of uncomfortable faces after some embarrassing remark or other. Stuff like that...

    Comedic Euthanasia?

I'm with the majority on this. I don't understand why the Office became so popular, unless.. 1. It wasn't really that popular, just among media types and people who worked in those kind of working environments 2. It was hyped to the tits by the media And I hate Ricky Gervais....

Formula 1 & Other Motor Racing

I was surprised that he was even in a position to take 5th. Anyone else think it was a bit fishy that the safety car waited until Button was in for his pit-stop before it came out (1st incident)? It might just be a courtesy for front running cars. I agree with honez, I thought it was a cracking opening GP, full of incident. Formula 1 is definitely on the up I reckon...
