    Football

There was an extra hour this morning, looks like both made full use of it! Although I would imagine the decision to sack Ramos & Co. was taken some while ago & Spurs have just been scooting around until all was signed, sealed & delivered. This is no guarantee of survival for Spurs, Redknapp didn't save Southampton from the drop... I wonder what Pompey fans are making of all this?

Have I been knocked out for a week or something? How did this happen so quickly?

    2009 DDP

I'm glad you mentioned Randy Pausch, Banshees because last year I said that he would be a test case for the obits and he passed. But I think the criteria for him was slightly different as he was at least 'known' for something before his illness, albeit by not many people. He used whatever platform he had (as a University professor) to enlighten the public on his illness and his way of dealing with it. Joanne Evans may yet 'inspire', but she probably has lttle time to do that...

    Ideas And Possibilities For 2009

I don't mind theme teams but I really want to clamp down on multiple teams. No more than 2 if at all possible, but really I would prefer just one. But, again, there's no way to regulate it across the board because of ahem... "technical difficulties". OK, I'll save it for another deadpool...

    The Dead Of 2008

Kuntz Not strictly on topic, but naughty/body part non-goalkeeping footballer names it is. How about Toe knee Wood cock? Or, and I can scarcely contain my titters here, Knickerless Butt? Sounds like German....

Thanks for that OoO. We'll have to sit on our hands till then. BTW what are your thoughts on multiple teams as I'm considering entering an additional theme team for 2009...

    Ideas And Possibilities For 2009

You don't have to pick this woman to stand a chance of winning the DDP. I won't be picking her and I intend to do well. It's all dreadfully sad, but it's a non story as far as I can see, people get diagnosed with terminal cancer all the time, I don't know what makes her case so special. I wouldn't be at all certain she will get a UK obit either. Obscurity beckons before death. Well you've got a (likely) title to defend and that's fightin' talk, son! Well, she'd be 24 points as a joker but will have some teams backing, whereas you could pick a unique 50-something and get the same amount (if only I can find one of course....). Hmmm...I'm making no decisions untill OoO runs the rule over it, but its a clear case of someone only known for illness (perhaps it could be allowed, but with a significant points penalty) and thus more clear cut than some other people...

I think this needs to pass to OoO for arbitration as she is known only for being ill. At least with Uttley and Birch, they are known, albeit only among enthusiasts for something other than their illness. If OoO allows this to pass then if I'm to have any ambitions to win the DDP, this would be a gift horse I cannot ignore and I would therefore 'hold my nose' and include the unfortunate Ms Evans...

    Seve Ballesteros

Thing is, do we stick or twist. It could be that the operation is a complete success and Seve recovers. Or that it's a partial success and although he wont die inthe immediate future, he could be sucking food from a straw for a bit. Or it's delaying the enevitable...

    Football

On the Daily Telegraph's blog, so expect a full obit soon. As I lived in Dunstable (by Luton for those who don't know) during the David Evans era, well.. he was certainly controversial. But his passion, even if misplaced, was undeniable. Also father of former racing driver, Gary, so my thoughts are with him. David Evans was not my favourite chap, but he was a big name in my growing up & football stage, so for that alone, I am sorry to see him go. Can't say I share those sentiments... Times Obit

    Derby Dead Pool 2008

Bang on brother! This has been the best DDP yet. The standard has been so high, I'm pleased just to be in the top ten! There's always next year of course, where I'll looking to add one or two more uniques and maybe get the average age down...

    The Dead Of 2008

Meet Your Maker is not going to give up his title without a fight... Actually on second thoughts, having glanced at who else picked Mr Plews, congratulations to The Living End! Most boring deadpool candidate ever. Not a single article about him since he was mentioned on DL last year. Next please! You ruthless so-and-so...

He was number 21 on my DDP... (although weirdly I haven't considered him at all for DDP09 - maybe I knew I had blown my chance...) Still, well done Deathlist: Back on track!
