Apparently, he once volunteered to be shot by a taser, to demonstrate it's safety. I wonder if being hit by 50,000 volts had in some way affected him...

Was in fine form last week when they were calling for the death penalty to come back. I think you might be reading too much in here, Fergus Shanahan is a columnist, not the main editor. They speak with one voice, they speak with all, or they did in Murdoch's time anyway. What is the lead singer the Undertones doing calling for Ronnie Biggs' release?

I've always been puzzled by the currant bun's attitude towards him. It was Biggs who allegedlly 'coshed' the driver of the train. Yet he's celebrated as this scallywag. What happened to all the 'hang 'em/ flog 'em garbage we get from them?

Ideas And Possibilities For 2009

I'm prepared to get irate guest abuse about this, but...... good. He's up there along with Gordon Brown, Mohammed Al Fayed & Robert Mugabe as people I would all like to see leave this earth as quickly as possible. He's going on my DDP list for next year - I have a spot free now, anyway. Was Tommy Burns so terrible? In the spring of '98 he took over a Reading club that were already well on their way down to Division 2 (which I believe was Division 3 in the old money), the next season they finished 11th. He got fired the following autumn, and the club went on to finish 10th. As bad as Mugabe? He must of been a shite manager then.... -

Mark is a Baronet, thus not a peer. Think Dennis was the last Baronet to be created, and the first in a long time. As for the Gotcha! headline - it's forgotten now that few of those actually made the news stands. As soon as "Admiral" Kelvin MacKenzie realised there had been a lot of deaths, he altered the headline. I wonder how quick off the mark he was to change the infamous 'The Truth' story on the Hillsborough disaster when it was clear that it was slanderous cobblers?

Well said Godot. Cards on the table: I'm a Labour man (most definitely not a New Labour man) and hated Thatcher. I think John Major was a decent man and a bit underrated as PM...

This news will not help Brooks' dicky ticker...

I think the best thing to come out of the war was that enabled the people of Argentina to overthrow the hated junta, but then what was the difference between that military dictatorship and General Pinochet's, which Maggie supported? Answers on a postcard please...

The answer's fairly obvious... I've always found this gripe by England fans to be rather churlish. I mean It's not like he sank a boat that was moving out of an exclusion zone and killing 300 people was it?

It has been confirmed by the editor of DWM on Outpost Gallifrey though nothing on the BBC website as yet. Very sad news though, and on the 44th anniversary of the first Doctor Who broadcast as well. A true pioneer in television, she'll be much missed. RIP Verity BBC FOUR is showing a Verity Lambert tribute night on April 5th. This isn't the right thread (Dr Who? Deadio Times?) for this info, but being a dunce I don't know how to transfer it. I suspect a moderator does, though. Well, she died last year, so your'e on the right lines. Hmmm, I wonder if this is coinciding with the new series?

Ask the people of your hometown about the legacy of Maggie Thatcher and you'll get a few home truths...

Here's a factoid to chew over: It'll be the first time neither a team from London, Liverpool or Manchester will have contested the FA Cup final since Sunderland beat Leeds United in 1973...
-
When she does finally shuffle off and it's within 'peak time' or daytime viewing, would she get a newsflash (or news report as they call it now) like the Queen Mother did a few years ago?
-
Here's a link What a shame. I remember her as a newsreader since I was a kid... She's gone in very similar circumstances to Tony Banks: A totally unexpected and fatal stroke..

So it is. There's a birthday present for you!

Looks like it could be a fair trickle of deaths this year to around a dozen or so, so this death is timely and expected...

I think the joke of the year standard's just been set...

He'll be buried under a landslide probably...
