Rant of the year There has been some notable bitching between members, but external rants have been thin on the ground, other than the Castro ones of course. Poster of the year. Ooh and I almost forgot, Best Death. Tammy Faye....what a saga!

To be honest....it's been a bit of a dull year hasn't it! No really big, iconic deaths. No rant-infested threads or lingering George Best/Pope John Paul/Paul Hunter deaths... We've had 10 hits, which were unevenly distributed (Nothing in the Spring, a mad summer and little since). Actually the best thread has been the most recent - The switch over of DDP showrunning from Rude Kid and Baboon to Octopus, with the ensuing debate over the new rules...

Today is the 21st Anniversary of Cary Grant's death, whch led inevitably to the Deathlist itself so..... HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEATHLIST!

It has been confirmed by the editor of DWM on Outpost Gallifrey though nothing on the BBC website as yet. Very sad news though, and on the 44th anniversary of the first Doctor Who broadcast as well. A true pioneer in television, she'll be much missed. RIP Verity And she died without getting that Damehood she so deserved. I have to say, she was on a programme about Children's TV a few months ago and she looked old and her hair was short and grey with curls. That's very sad. There's not many Doctor Who producers left: Derrick Sherwin, Barry Letts & Philip Hinchcliffe from the old series....

Don't think so - can't find it on the schedules - which is odd, considering it's Sunday, and there's f**k all else on... The Euro draw wont be on either, now that England are out! I wonder how seriously the TV companies will take Euro 2008? They reduced Euro 84 to mostly highlights and it turned out to be one of the best tournments ever...

And guess who was the best performing team in the whole qualification....that's right: Greece! 10 wins in 12 matches. One defeat. England will be lucky if they're in the same pot as Scotland, that means they wont meet each other.. If anything, it'll better if England are in a tougher group, they might get round to raising their game, like Norn Iron and Scotland did. Is the World Cup draw on TV?

Dead Pool Derby has an American ring to it. When I first heard about it, that's what I thought the 'Derby' bit was referring to, rather than the city. But institutions such as this are often named after such places (Burleigh horse trials etc) so it shouldn't lose its name. The wallpaper? Hmmm... The site does need a bit of a revamp, lick of paint etc. It might be worth retaining the database and switching domains (if thats possible) and setting up a new site more in line with todays modern websites. I mean look at the Deathlist, that's changed since I joined in 2005. Maybe the Deathlist can incorporate the Derby Dead Pool as there are such close links between the two sites?

I'd argue Clement Atlee, although his reputation appears to have been enhanced more for the policies & things introduced during his premiership, retrospectively, rather than at the time, where he was thought out-of-touch and er... useless. Sir John Major is a thoroughly decent man, I always feel, but in terms of decent as in effective, it's hard to argue in his favour - though of course that wasn't so much down to him but the sh*ts he had in the Government at the time - a lot of them Thatcher's legacy. Douglas-Home was about the only PM that didn't do anything wrong. Trouble is.. he didn't do anything. Except Hunt, shoot, fish & drink champagne. Top PM Of which I concur. I think Callaghan was alright, but the Unions done for him in the end...

I really hope the Scots do it. Particularly if England don't. I was too young to remember 1978, but I loved it when the Irish were at USA '94... I wanna see those St Andrews flags from Inverness to Gretna...
