The Weatherman Death Pool
themaninblack replied to weatherman90's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Thanks all, still a long way to go and I'm wondering who (if any) in my list will go next! Its nice to be top, at least for a little while... -
Only Alan Erasmus remains from Factory records.... Martin Hannett died in 1991 Rob Gretton died in 1999 Anthony Wilson died in 2007....

Let me requote what I said on the 5th Aug: I#ve not changed my mind in 3 days, Lita's stretching injury nothwithstanding. I don't think we'll go down - most pundits seem to think anywhere between 11th-16th & I agree. So do I: Wigan, Derby and Fulham to go down, Chelsea as Champions....

What a shame. The wording has a more ominous feel about it this time, than in March. I had vowed to name an ex-Reading FC player in my DDP team in 2008 - Porterfield would be prime candidate right now. He'll be in my CPDP theme team though (HINT - Damn... have I possibly given my theme team idea away??) (The handy thing about being involved in Reading FC player histories is learning who's ill/aged/frail etc - thus a strong DDP unique pick ) Again, I hope he pulls through. Not Robin Friday then......

themaninblack replied to chicago103's topic in DeathList Forum
Comedy deaths I know it's just out of the timeframe, but a really significant comedy death was in 1962...Ernie Kovacs! Harpo Marx 1964 Stan Laurel 1965 Lenny Bruce and Buster Keaton 1966 Tony Hancock 1968 Harold Lloyd 1971 Michael Flanders 1975 Alistair Sim 1976 Charlie Chaplin and Groucho Marx 1977 Joyce Grenfell 1979 Peter Sellers 1980 John Belushi 1982 Dick Emery 1983 Tommy Cooper, Eric Morecambe and Leonard Rossiter 1984 Phil Silvers 1985 Kenneth Williams 1988 Graham Chapman 1989 Terry-Thomas 1990 Frankie Howerd and Benny Hill 1992 Les Dawson 1993 Bill Hicks 1994 Peter Cook and Kenny Everett 1995 Ernie Wise 1999 Dudley Moore 2002 Bob Monkhouse 2003 Richard Pryor 2005 To be updated... -
Me. Trust Leroy. Only he could get injured in bed. Ah well, Doyler & Kits up front vs Man U is not a disaster by any means. What do you think of your chances this season Octopus? Some are suggesting a far more difficult season than the last...

I've gone for JD Salinger again...

Gone for JD Salinger again....

Yes. Well done on finding it - it's not on the main page. Also well done to Anubis for making the top 5 & to DDT for what I think is his 4th hit in a month... You owe me a Groat.....
-
Damn! Had him on DDP last year, but not this. Still,he's on my 'shadow' list and that needed a boost...
-
Goodness me! I was just watching him in "Midsomer Murders" this weekend and trying to recall what I had seen him in previously. I think it was his performance in an episode of "Yes, Prime Minister", as I remember noting that John Nettleton was in that also. That's John Nettleton, born 1929 by the way, just in case anyone's interested (although he still appears to be quite active). Met him in 1992, nice man. Brilliant as Morgus in Doctor Who. Saw him in Torchwood and didn't think he looked that well, if only I trusted my instincts....
-
Well spotted. Oh bugger, you've passed 5000 and I've missed it! Well done Grandmaster
-
Apparently TW was on Granada news a few days ago and according to a reliable witness (my brother) he didn't look the ticket...
-
I mentioned him as a possible in 2005, but alas didn't take take my own advice, just like with Nigel Kneale...

Hey no fighting in here it's the War Room! I was going to reveal, but OoO got there first and saved me vital seconds in my life that I may need later, so cheers for that.... They're Dead Y'Know! is a more considered name than themaninblack, which was more spur of the moment (the reason it is all in one is I had this thought that someone, somewhere would have a similar handle...I know stupid eh?) and rushed. It's on my signature anyway.....

Nah! Around....um...40th or something. Keep it up folks!

So? A lot of UK actors don't get obits, even though it's arguable they should. I mean Nancy Mansfield, despite appearing in one of the most popular 80's shows & having a long stage career has had no obit, to name just one. Tuddenham, who only had one noteworthy role, and a bit part role at that, is on the periphery of fame & I'm not all surprised that the only publication that has covered his death is the Littlehampton Gazette in all honesty. I would say Notapotato's best hope is a "Lives in Brief" in The Times, otherwise Tudders is joining the ranks of John Smyth & Scarabelotti. A bit part! He was the voice of Zen in series 1-3, Orac 2-4 and Slave in the last series, you heard his voice more than you heard Blake's! Funny though, he got mentioned in dispatches in Doctor Who websites, despite saying about 5 words in one episode in 1975! So I think the cult factor will deliver an obit....
-
You are the bringer of good news OoO! First Jesus de Polanco and now Tammy Faye - 23 points in 2 days, not a bad weekend's work! I'd have more if that bloody John Smyth had an obit - I blame the timing - just after new year. If he had died around the time the World Snooker Campionships, he would have had one. Costs me a place in the top 30.....ah well there are others to come. Lee Hazlewood, it's over to you....
-
Hmmmm...a bit tough now, looking at the list. With Tammy finally gone, a load of 'relatively' healthy candidates are in front of me. So I've decided to go a little off the wall and plumped for J D Sallinger...
-
Well she's finally gone. I got the news via a WDP email (thanks Weatherman90!). However, will she get a legit obit to hand us the points bonanza for the DDP? Time will tell...
-
Phew! Less than TWENTY-FOUR HOURS after the 5th poll is written, here's the 6th! Ladybird Johnson has now departed to the West Wing (of the funeral parlour), who will next make peace with St Paul*? Tammy Faye, where art thou? * - According to Derby Dead Pool, it should be St Peter....I never know which one's which, lapsed Catholic that I am...
-
Yes By the way, nothing for Peter Tuddenham, bar a tribute in the Littlehampton Gazette, which, I'm afraid does not count for points scoring in the DDP. May I make a short exclaimation........thanks.........YYYEEEESSSS GET IN YA BASTARD!!! I'm movin', movin' up da board! PS, Tuddenham will get his obit, he was in Blake's Seven for f**ks sake!
-
Bugger. He's on my DDP - the second person on my list to have been reported as dead when still alive. Anyway Jesus De Polanco has also died. He's on my DDP, but will he get a UK obit? Here's hoping DDT!
-
Oh.My.God. That said, if she can still get on TV, I think she'll plod on for a little bit longer....um...September...
