If you're using a postal vote, you've already voted for a Labour candidate in Birmingham. 15 times. I don't get it. Care to elucidate? See here, Birmingham vote rigging Despite this the Labour party has decided to increase postal voting in the coming election.

Cistene chapel rules: Black smoke = No Pope. White smoke = New Pope. Modified for deathlist: Black hair on pope = No Deathlist place. White hair on pope = Deathlist place.

Yes but you made a prediction of a death, and then you choose to complain. Why? -
Luckily he isn't a Conservative, he's only a conservative (with a small "c"). So he probably isn't going to go about closing coal mines, raising taxes for the poor and lowering them for the rich and bragging about how much beer he can drink. I say wait and see. He is a clever man and now he is pope, may not be quite the Bavarian dickhead people are expecting him to be. Long for this world he can surely not be. (as Yoda might have put it) Okay I've edited my post to use a small C.

I would have said the most heinous criminal offence in all of British history was King John giving the whole country to the pope, just so he could rent it back again. Obviously an early form of PFI.

Wasn't that compulsory? Do you mean being in the Hitler Youth or revisionisim?

Whats The Most Surprising Death Ever???
Dr Strangelove replied to a topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Are you sponsored to use extra capital letters? -
This time, will he retire at 80 as has been suggested? After only 2 years service. He's another conservative too.

I hadn't read this before posting well done - Football fan

It depends on his age. For example Joseph Ratzinger is 78 ;if he's chosen he would make a good Deathlist candidate. If it's someone in their 50s I wouldn't bother. Just out of interest http://www.ratzingerfanclub.com/ is "Temporarily Unavailable"

And who are you? Guests are difficult to tell apart - you could be KRAUT for all I know.

Let's take a look at say the first ten Regicides - John Bradshaw - Exhumed after the Restoration and hung in chains at Tyburn. Lord Grey of Groby - He was arrested on suspicion of plotting against the Commonwealth and imprisoned at Windsor Castle, where he died in 1657, aged 34. Edward Whalley – Fled to New England survived in Massachusetts until at least 1674 Sir Michael Livesey - Fled to the Netherlands where he was attacked and killed by Royalists in 1660. John Okey -Okey fled to the Netherlands. He was extradited by George Downing and hanged, drawn and quartered with John Barkstead and Miles Corbet in 1662 Sir John Danvers -Died in 1655 Henry Ireton -Exhumed after the Restoration and hanged at Tyburn Sir Hardress Waller -Fled to France, then decided to surrender himself. Though he was condemned to death, his cousin Sir William Waller interceded for him, and the sentence was commuted to life imprisonment on Jersey, where he died in 1666. So as you can see they weren't all HDQ, but why bother with research. Making sweeping statements is much more fun. Well he's on the Deathlist already but apart from that nice try

One of the reasons QEII is a good Queen is because she takes pains to be uncontroversial. Take her somnolent Christmas speeches which have no meaning at all. With you moronic tirades Simon you have managed to unite both the hardcore Republicans and moderate supporters of a constitutional Monarchy (IE the ones who think a Monarchy is better than president Blair) against you. Nice going, are you a descendant of Charles the first by the way?

11 Hours to go...

From memory, his corpse was exhumed, then hung, drawn and quartered and displayed as a warning to others. A symbolic punishment, but one nevertheless. Okay, maybe I wrong about that. But talk about shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted.

I think you'll find he was far closer to Mussolini, and was against Germany during the war.
-
I sincerely hope one of them isn't history No Oliver Cromwell had little part in causing the war; he merely came to the fore during it. As Charles II didn't become King until after Cromwell's death, it's hard to see what 'punishment' he suffered. The civil war came about by Charles' quixotic policies.

Ending accusations of cherry-picking

Except the ones that have significant risk of assassination, would be on the list for that reason only. Old has-been politicos tend to have a low assassination risk. It's a well known fact that no one bothers to assassinate ex-US President's for instance. A more general problem with deathlist is the fact that people tend to drop out of the public eye for the last 20 years of their lives. So you know little of their health until the obituary appears. -
Personally I enjoyed the press confrence when RKS launched his party. Reporter: "Is your tan Veritas?"

BTW it's Guesty not Questy. According to the JavaScript that appears in the bottom bar of the browser (when moving the pointer over their name); Softcelluk1 is user no. 502

If you read that wrong, it could be quite libellous. Seriously though Thorpe's demise has been predicted for years, a possible for 2006 perhaps?
-
You've obviously scared them off posting! Can someone please explain what it means by 'Member No.' on the left? It would appear that Boudicca is member number 456. How does this work? Also softcelluk1 hasn't yet made any posts. Ohhps, didn't read all the above

This old chestnut often seems to come up. I'm less than convinced. The fact that the inhabitants of the Channel Islands have a different ancestry/language from the rest of the UK is always ignored. They may have seen it as one Colonial power replacing another. As another difference all the local men were shipped out, and there was a very high proportion of occupying Germans, this could not be replicated for the whole of the UK.
