The Deathlist Christmas Special!
Body Snatcher 44 replied to Lady Die's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
My Xmas bombed - I twice got the same present as last year, dimwitted relatives, don't know how many copies of "The Hunt for HMAS Sydney" they think I need, but it is a good read though. Merry Christmas (and equivalent holiday) to all -
Whoa, okay I'll concede some of his behavior was uncalled for (and downright distasteful), but you don't have to agree with everything he did and said. I will disagree with you the pro-veteran point as an example - if it wasn't for Ruxton's influence in areas like aged care and nursing homes, a lot of family members of my grandparents generation would have gone without and suffered because of it. I believe that is at least one redeeming quality. P.S. I would have thought your class would have gone for the likes of Ivan Milat or someone of that ilk instead.

Good riddance. I dunno Davy...I thought he was an alright sort of bloke...cantankerous, but alright.

Just sent in my team - a little early I know, but I'm going to be busy over Christmas so I though I'd get it out of the way now. Good luck to everyone in next years comp.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you fourty-two's tribute to Kim Jong-il.

Niemeyer - to see the year out with a bang.

Question remains - how old is he exactly 69 or 70? dead pool points are at stake here!!!! - it was the only thing he was good for after all.
-
Righto ta for that Angry - probably best to consider someone with a bit more notoriety anyway.

Perhaps the event of Hitchens' death (the latest in a slew of missed deaths for 2011 - a point which has been frustrating us for most of the year) will make the DL committee readdress their selection process. This includes people who have abused themselves in such a way they have dire health ramifications in the future. As it currently stands it seems the likes of Etta James (surviving 2011 pending) still won't make next years list.

Meldrum survived the night. Here is the latest - http://www.smh.com.au/entertainment/optimism-up-after-molly-survives-the-night-20111217-1ozh6.html. Agreed. I think I'll reserve my opinion on the matter until the 31st rolls around, he could linger into the new year. P.S. has anyone heard any definitive news on Australian pro-boxer Shannon Taylor? - some sources say his condition has improved and others say he's dead. not sure whats going on...

The position of Governor General is actually as the monarch's representative in Australia, it is by no-means a direct leadership role, and although there are several reserve powers that the GG can implement when they see fit, they generally leave any "leading" to the politicians in Canberra. Nor are they appointed to the position by the ruling monarch, that practice began to go out of fashion in the 1930's. They are now appointed by parliament. Sir Zelman Cowen. http://www.abc.net.a...950?section=qld Just out of curiosity did his obit make news in the UK?

http://edition.cnn.com/2011/12/04/us/north-carolina-billy-graham-hospitalized/ feeling a little better - possibly a ripe pick for next year...each time he goes through this it gets a little worse.

I'm hoping to enter the competition for the first time as well. I've drawn up a draft list but I think I might just sit on it for now and submit it closer to Christmas, just to see if anything changes.

Yes, you can. regars, Hein many thanks Hein.

Can I please have "Chunder-er from Down Under" if that is okay?

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, Over many a quaint and curious volume of forgotten lore — While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door. "'Tis some visiter," I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door" — it was my large double meat-lovers with extra cheese and BBQ sauce.

Hmmmm - maybe it isn't as dire as we thought... http://fullcomment.nationalpost.com/2011/11/09/%E2%80%98like-a-sleeping-lord%E2%80%99-son-of-former-israeli-prime-minister-eulogizes-ariel-sharon/ unless, of course, they are simply sugarcoating the situation. For what my opinion is worth - maybe we should reevaluate his placing on the list as well?

Diddums is rotting in prison... - if he were released on "Compassionate grounds" he'd barely make it out the gate before the lynching mob would tear him apart. You say that as if it's a Bad Thing... regards, Hein On the contrary...I think it is totally justifiable for bad things to befall bad people - kind of like karma or the universe balancing out, no matter how hard you fight it, it will always balance out. I guess it's just hard to express sarcasm in type - we should get an emoticon playing a small violin for these occasions. Don't worry mate, Thatcher is still alive - besides, what you described happened to Gaddafi the other week anyway.

Wow guys very impressive, might take a bit of getting used to though. -
I suppose such shopping trips are much more entertaining when a dead dictator is on view.I have always hated shoe shopping with a passion, but my old boots went belly-up after the rigors of last winter and I need to get a new pair soon. The chance to view a dictator on ice would definitely take some of the sting out. Perhaps an international tour of Gaddafi's corpse could be arranged (Coming soon to a mall near you!) Yes, please! If the tour would would pass my country I might well make a trip to see it. Is the Libyan government pro tem reading this? Here's a way to make a few quid from all this unpleasantness. Hell, I might even try an find a new pair of shoes while at the mall. Perhaps an international shoe manufacturer wants to sponsor the tour. regards, Hein You were expecting maybe they'd give him a state funeral and a week of national mourning ...after 40+ years of continued oppression, by a less than savory character, I think it is quite reasonable to react the way they did. At the very end I think he still knew his people were behind him, whether he realised they had a gun pointed at the back of his head I guess we'll never know...
