This is really interesting!! Do you know more auditions? I only know this one from Wikipedia/Betty White: “White was originally offered the role of Blanche in The Golden Girls, and Rue McClanahan was offered the role of Rose (the two characters being similar to roles they had played in Mary Tyler Moore and Maude, respectively). Jay Sandrich, the director of the pilot, suggested that since they had played similar roles in the past, they should switch roles, Rue McClanahan later said in a documentary on the series.” No not really but am I right in thinking that all the actresses who appeared in the UK version of the show are still with us? Not quite; Sheila Gish died in 2005. She was the youngest of the 4 too. Wendy Craig, Sheila Hancock and Jean Boht are all still with us

He stands a good chance of getting one.

Have this one. Thanks, that's one I owe you. See if you can find one for Nosher Powell.

Today sees the 30th anniversary of Buster Crabbe literally kicking the bucket. He died of a heart attack aged 75 after tripping over a wastepaper basket. (Source :Wikipedia)

I had the pleasure of meeting and listening to Nosher many times. I'm as sorry to see him go as I was pleased by my previous hit.

17. Not exctly the answer I had in mind, but full marks for a clever answer. Well spotted. regards, Hein Bugger. Perhaps I was being too clever, in which case its 8 - as its the only one that looks the same along all planes of symmetry.

Yes, we do know who it is... After much speculation, confirmation.
-
He's gotta be older than 30!!!

Except maybe the Swimsuit Edition.

God can you imagine that. Still got good reflexs for a 87 year old though. I notice the Metro refers to him as a 'merchant banker'. Probably what the queen thought too.
-
Yes, basically that is what I'm saying. Well deduced! No, the name of the game is Derby Dead Pool.

Hadn't noticed. She's not bad looking, but would you tap her if her voice sounded like her grandmother's? No but she's a USAian, brought up in US & SA, so its not likely it would. The more worrying thing is she might have inherited her dad's intelligence.
-
What, you'd deny points to any one who HAD qualms but still played her? Stewards enquiries on all major dead pools will surely commence immediately. I was assuming (dangerous I know) that those who did have qualms didn't pick her, but just to be even handed, Those of you with qualms but who picked her anyway can also count your points.
-
Those of you who had no qualms about picking Anne Willliams may now count your points.

Scaremongering again are you? I'd wait until you got a bit more accurate news before posting crap! Just the usual load of fertilser!

Animals on National flags. FFS! I made it too easy, didn't I? Don't feel too bad, I have in my time set a few quizzes which has involved some research into flags. But the third sentence did confirm my suspicions.

Animals on National flags.

After she saved his life too!

and I thought it was just the school milk thing...

She isn't, it was an error, it will be changed in the next update... She was my Joker though

A very divisive figure and one who has clearly outlived any serious support he once enjoyed. He fought and lost a case about the use of flat that belongs to the NUM not too long ago. I was struck by his absence from the discussion. In fact, a lot of coverage tended to act as if he was dead. They've dug up a few old enemies (like Ken Livingstone and Kinnock). The militants, Derek Hatton and Scargill, might just have been too incendiary for the last 24 hours. Here's Scargill's (reported) response.
