Who Do You Think Will Win The Democrat And Republican Nominations?
CaptainChorizo replied to Bibliogryphon's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
The parallels to 1964 are almost unbelievable. The Democratic nominee is to the right of their party on Foreign Policy but a down the line liberal everywhere else the Republican Party nominee is actually to the left of their party on many issues but a total Isolationist nutjob propped up by a bunch of racists and fringe groups. -

While the only French New Wave Directors from the 60's left are Godard and Varda it seems a lot of the Czech Directors from that era are still alive but I suspect some of them will start dropping in the next few years. Juraj Herz-Born 1933 Ivan Passer-Born 1933 Jiri Minzel-Born 1938 Vojtech Jasny-Born 1925 Juraj Jakubisko-Born 1938 Milos Forman-Born 1932 With the exception of iffy chances for Herz andJasny all of them would get UK Obits -

The fact that Poitier at 89 had enough energy to take a flight to the UK is a good sign he probably doesn't have any fatal illnesses that would make him a likely bet for the next year or so.

dead Martin Crowe

Paul Daniels had a show on the BBC and is a magician and their are Anglophiles and Magic fanatics in every spot of the globe. Whereas no matter how accomplished as Crowe is in cricket if you don't live in a cricket following nation I don't think 99.9% of people could identify someone in the sport even if they were the Pele or Babe Ruth level of it. In general I think RDP seem to have limited amount of choices for sportpeople. Way more people in the world follow football, wrestling and autosports and their selections for names in those fields seem to be pretty narrow. -
I'd say my own chances rest on 2 of the 3 passing btwn Seijun Suzuki,Terri Roberts and Steve LaTourette since neither GCR or any of last years top 10 have Roberts and Suzuki and only PanBreed has LaTourette. Almost all of the rest of the people on my team would be keeping up with multiple other contender type hits. Aside from those 3 I would also say John Bain seeing the year out would be YUGE for my chances since I passed on him and he is young and on most top contenders teams. If he died I would probably need something close to a record hits tally to finish top 3.

You've got Esterhazy, Christie, Langhorne and Travis. If those four are all still breathing on January 1st, I'll be shocked. I cut three of them from my own team which is practically the kiss of death this year. Why would Esterhazy failure to die be a 'shock'? I have him in my DP I run and I consider it the second worst pick I made. It takes a while for pancreatic C to get down to business, and all we know is he was diagnosed. Show me it was stage 4. He prolly has two years yet. It was a bad pick by me then and remains one. SC I would say he is a 50/50 case either way.None of the articles mentioned he was diagnosed last year just that he was publicly announcing he had Pancreatic cancer and had to withdraw from a speaking engagement. It's quite possible he has known for some time.

There was a period of half a decade where every Gothic teenager in Merica wore Marilyn Manson t-shirts, I would be very surprised if he did not get at least a Daily Mail mention when he passes away.

this gug is fucked and will definitely die soon probably within the next week. Pencil him in for your team in 2019. Just like Zsa Zsa and religious leaders Royalty have a way of turning weeks to live into years.

Something similiar happened this year. Natalie Cole died on Dec 31 but it was not reported until the next day on Jan 1. Anyone who picked her for their team in 2015 is S.O.L,but anyone who picked her in 2016 would just have a back up take her place on most dead pool teams. -
Interesting to see the huge uptick in German Orbits as the Dec 2013 update it doesn't crack the top 5 and now is only 2 away from tying France for the Country with the 3rd most.
