Good little servant for the Cobblers in some of our shittest recent seasons. Bit of a "troubled" figure I understand so not a surprise if he has offed himself.

That's Shirley *Denson not Denison, typo from me.

I feel like this could be a scrappy round, not too many obvious names on their deathbed out there. One for the purists rather than the casuals.

People I Was Surprised To Find Are Still Alive

Josep Gual, long-time illustrator for bizarrely long-running unfunny swinging 70s cartoon strip George and Lynne, is still with us. Turns 85 this year. -
Claude Callegari, formerly of AFTV and probably the man who started the "angry football fan shouting on YouTube after the match" trend, has died.

Anyone who fancied an April Cup punt on 1980s Juarez children's TV host Niko Liko, he's not making the starting line.

Chet Hanks, a man who lives entirely without irony and will possibly end racism forever:

23-6 (17) is also a bigger winning margin than the 16-0 loss Squonk suffered.

Terrorists & Topical Terrorist Targets

Basically Ireland is out as a reliable source of QOs. India is back after a couple of years where the QO rules didn't favour it, and Australia is as strong as ever - but don't confuse it with New Zealand. -
I'd already taken him off any preliminary April team because his son said he was improving. So that's pretty lucky.

The only Wilkinson in that page is a reference to Johnny Wilkinson in the 2003 eggchase world cup. -
Looks like Tahir Mughal, thanks to the very very lax YahooNews ruling, would have got a QO.

Mad to think he was the first choice for the lead roles in American Gigolo, American Beauty, Splash and Toy Story (Buzz, not Woody), and yet he turned them all down.

Chevy Chase is one of the great ornery fuckers in Hollywood history, and despite clearly being racist, sexist, homphobic and probably a few other ists, is right in every single beef he's had.

Born 1940, now known as Emilia Segovia, Marquesa de SalobreƱa.

I notice Bank Balance has already been added to UKGameshows' list of "Flops," where it sits alongside such beloved classics as Boys & Girls, The Colour of Money* and Red or Black. And I still hold out hope that one day someone will upload an episode of Hale and Pace's seminal H&p@bbc to YouTube. * A gameshow that aired for seven episodes before being cancelled, yet the quiz machine version of it was still going strong a good seven years after the show left the air.

Final rounds with excessive amounts of points on offer are a curse on game shows at all ends of the spectrum. 90 Day Fiance: Love Games, a modern take on The Mr and Mrs Show, starts off with five points for knowing what your partner thinks is your most annoying habit, and ends with 20 points for knowing who the current American vice president is.

I know "introductory patter on game shows" is a cliched hate, but I honestly think a good vision of hell is Victoria Coren's "jokes" on Only Connect playing in perpetuity.

Mick Foley is campaigning for Lex Luger to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Being as the last two wrestlers he did this for were Chyna in 2015 and Vader in 2017, I think it might be time to add the Lex Express to your longlists.

The upthread mentioned Amadou-Mahtar M'Bow has now hit the century. Was healthy enough to attend a shindig to mark the occasion, I assume that's him in the middle with the facemask on. First black African to lead a United Nations support organisation, y'know?
