Got a BBC Push alert for his death, don't get many of those in a year.
-
Yeah, why not?

Read this post in the voice of Brian Glover in Porridge.

Daughter of old school trainer/"personality" Albert Davison fwiw. Knew she was going to be gone by the end of January, didn't think it would be three days in.
-
Fun fact: in my head I kept reading Paul Westphal as Paul Westerberg on my longlist and just went "well if the lead singer of The Replacements was dying I'd have heard more about it" and so didn't bother checking up on his health in late December.
-
Lee Noble changed his Facebook display picture on December 30th, so he's still with us. Would be stunned if he doesn't get a Sun obit on his death
-
I found another reference to Latour having cancer in Le Monde, but the way it was phrased makes me think it was caught very early.

Vivenne Player is replaced then by Milford Graves

Lovely pick, always been a campaigner for this guy to get more recognition on here considering he's meant to have been in ill-health for about a decade now. Will always stop flicking over the TV if there's a true crime doc on him.

Player I can see how there would be an argument over (although I would campaign for "wife of Gary Player and perhaps the most recognisable golf WAG for 50 years" is a bit above, say, Lisa Maffia's mum or that guy from Strictly's dad). Davison on the other hand, although not the most successful trainer in history, has a lengthy career as a horse-racing trainer and has been mentioned in numerous news reports in racing sections before her cancer diagnosis. I'd argue she's even more famous than Club Brugge's former third-choice, uncapped goalkeeper. EDIT: Sorry, not Belgian giants Club Brugge. Belgian yoyo club Cercle Brugge.

The Deathlist Gets Franchised

Lino Banfi getting the call-up as well, very much a sign of how old we're all getting. -
Tahir Mughal - Couldn't work out how important a cricketer he was. The fact that his Wikipedia profile isn't formatted properly was what made me think he's not going to QO. Biz Markie - Really, really wanted to pick him on the "any legendary rapper that announces health issues dies from them" principle (Guru, Nate Dogg). Just couldn't find any space for him. Nigel Oakes - Cambridge Analytica figure. Guaranteed QO. I found one reference to him having terminal cancer in the middle of a completely unrelated article and nothing else. Could have been an amazing tip or just a misunderstanding. Snowy Dyson - Fascinating pick, former UK #1 ranked disabled darts player, was experimented on as a schoolchild with sedatives in a mild scandal and a former bodyguard for Kylie Minogue. It was either him or Zoe Davison and I just felt she was a guaranteed 100% death, knocking him out of the running. Carla Campbell - Bounty hunter focus of the documentary series Love Fraud. Definitely dying, but her show wasn't a massive hit and I think that will stop her getting any Daily Mail coverage. Of course if TMZ write it up the Mail will copy... Lieutenant Colonel David Price - former director of music for the Scots Guards. I was ecstatic when I found this name, but then I looked into it and found out that the last two directors of music for the Scots Guards who died didn't get QOs. Weird. Antonio Inoki - Another "really wanted to pick him" name, but couldn't find the space. Will be this year's Kenny Rogers for me I'm sure.

Announcing "deathlist.net Members" Own Death

Of course, with the death of Chuck Yeager this year as well, you will of course be asking "but Spade, what is now the oldest nomination for "Best Supporting Actor" at the Oscars for someone playing a real-life, still living person?" It is, of course, Gene Kranz, who was played by Ed Harris in Apollo 13 (1995). The other categories, fwiw: Best Actor: Frank Serpico (Al Pacino, Serpico 1973) Best Actress: Loretta Lynn (Sissy Spacey, Coal Miner's Daughter 1980) Best Supporting Actress: Judy Hoback Miller (Jane Alexander, All The Presidents Men, 1976)

In fairness, Joe Pesci got an Oscar nomination for playing Joey, which confers upon him a certain level of celebrity.

Unfortunately Villa already played last night and don’t have any more games until 2021, so no chance of an obit coming up in a match report.
