Fat fuck terrible movie director Kevin Smith had a "massive heart attack" last night and was apparently very close to death. Let's celebrate the man by remembering his finest contribution to the English language:

Anyone with an interest in modern-day kitsch, specifically "mockbusters", should be aware of Dingo Pictures - the German animation studio whose terrible, badly animated, nonsensical, cheap movies were re-released as shovelware "games" for the PS2 in the early 2000s. An example of their "craft" can be found here: Anyway, after a recent YouTube binge I saw some comments that one of the founders had died and, searching German obituary records, I can confirm. Roswitha Haas died December 8, 2015. Doesn't appear to have been any coverage of this in German media.

Yeah, who draws Trump in a massively homoerotic fashion.

Possible health issues for everyone's favourite MIGA Trump acolyte cartoonist Zyklon Ben Garrison?

Comedy producer Humphrey Barclay turns 80 in 2021. No evidence of poor health, but a fascinating character so worth keeping on your radars: A Footlight alum who once told John Cleese to think about making a sitcom based at a hotel, he produced the first two black British sitcoms: No, Honestly and the much-better remembered Desmond's. Becoming life-long friends with the Desmond's cast, he went to Ghana for the funeral of Gyearbuor Asante in 2000, where he was promptly adopted by the Tafo royal family and named Nana Kwadwo Ameyaw Gyearbuor Yiadom I, Nkosuohene of Kwahu-Tafo.

Toupee or not Toupee....that is the question

I wonder what happened to Frankie Howerd's wig collection after it was sold off in 2008. Can't find any follow-up news stories on who won the auction. Although it's been attributed to a few names, I always attach the urban myth of the actor who was so insecure about his hair that he went to the barber wearing a wig and asked for a "short back and sides" to Howerd. -
Mouth cancer, GoFundMe set up for him.

For me, the last great "he was still alive?" pick out there.

Character actor Thomas Jefferson Byrd, an "oh that guy" face from numerous Spike Lee films, was murdered last night. He was Tony-nominated for his role in a revival of Ma Rainey's Black Bottom.

Research led me to discover there are still five living wrestlers who fought Buddy Rogers for the WWWF title. They are: Ted Lewin (b.1935) - Became a children's illustrator after he quit wrestling, and indeed that's what the majority of his Wikipedia entry focuses on. Brother of the more notable and possible QO-worthy Mark. Buddy Colt (b.1940) - Was pilot in the plane crash that killed Bobby Shane and also shortened the careers of Gary Hart and Austin Idol in 1975 Dory Dixon (b.1935) - Former Mr Jamaica, one of the first wrestlers to break the colour barrier in New York. Spent the majority of his career in Mexico. Pete Sanchez (DOB unknown) - There's at least three wrestlers of the same name out there, all of whom worked WWF at one point in their career. I think this is the New York-born one the internet credits with training current AEW worker Sonny Kiss Pablo Iturbi - This guy seems to have zero footprint on the internet outside his name appearing in match listings. No pictures, nothing on posters, nobody going "wait, who was Pablo Iturbi?" Is he a copyright trap?

Can we get some sort of software that autobans anyone under, say, 20 posts who says "Norman Lloyd" or "Beverley Cleary"?

This is the first time I've been convinced he'll lose in 2020, Trump's running like an insurgent and nobody has ever won an election running like a candidate when they're the incumbent.

I wonder if some of the instances might dovetail into one of the great darky alleys of forgotten pop culture. There was long a tradition in the US of people claiming to have been in the Our Gang or Little Rascals shorts when they were kids, and really why would you doubt someone telling you that? One of the frauds even got on an episode of To Tell the Truth in the 50s. Similarly, in wrestling there's a history of people claiming to have been minor wrestling stars 20/30 years prior, and the truth only coming out after they die and an obituary for "Stan Lane" or "Corporal Kirchner" circulates, to the shock of the still-living wrestler. I wonder if a couple of these reports might be someone claiming "yeah, I was in a band when I was a kid, we even got on Top of the Pops." It was a lot easier in the olden days when you couldn't just pull up the names of every member of Our Kid on your phone, but perhaps we're seeing this happen?

The DDP usually gets around 10 hits a day from Google searches. On Tuesday it got 1,724, nearly everyone searching for "derby dead pool" or "derby dead pool 2020". We must have been mentioned somewhere.... any ideas? EDIT: 791 of those hits were from Italy.... -
As any death fan will of course know, hangman Albert Pierrepoint could guess a man's weight just by shaking his hand. Although maybe with al-Nima he'd have to use his feet as well.

Skateboarding icon and probably the first person to bring hip-hop into skate videos back in the early 90s, Keith Hufnagel has died aged 46. In perhaps a sign of where skateboarders now lie in the fame firmament, he got a QO from The Sun without any worries.

This is all very Ministry of Public Enlightenment innit?

This means "The Warriors" from 1990 (Animal, Hawk, Kerry Von Erich and Ultimate Warrior) become the second classic Survivor Series team to be completely wiped out. The first was Andre's team from 1988, which impressively has five dead wrestlers, two dead managers and a dead pre-match interviewer as seen from this photo:

Dreamer's more reliable, yeah. Except for when it comes to murdering Paul Heyman.
