^^^^ his funeral was of course interrupted by fellow comic Irwin Corey using his eulogy time to not mention anything about Sales and instead go on a lengthy rant against the American healthcare system -
Joyce Cansfield, the first ever series champion of Countdown, died earlier this month aged 90. She was also a cruciverbalist who contributed 1,265 cryptic crosswords to The Times.

I remember him best from Southampton's mid-90s back four.

"Dino" is probably the best biography of a musician ever written. -
Yeah yeah, we know you had him down for 2020. Former Oracle CEO Mark Hurd dead at 62.
-
He'd been in hospital recently because he was in a car crash (yes, he was still driving at 97). Could be unnatural death bonus points...
-
No need to worry about that Reuters obit now: Bob Kingsley dead at 80.
-
Same team also picked Alex Trebek, so clearly they've got something of a midas touch about them.

I say this as a fan of the guy and knowing that he has his "issues" with addiction, but Jesus Christ Norm MacDonald looks fucking awful. This is his 60th birthday, if you told me it was of his 80th I wouldn't have doubted you.

Saturday. Promise.

Gonna go with the 29th for the DDP update just to get the tables sorted, will change later if needs be.

As the board's resident member of the fourth estate, I've come to believe that the increased use of "poo" or "poop" in headlines is a way of internationalising coverage without having to worry about spelling it "feces" or "faeces". -
IMDB now lists a death date (17 April, 2015) for Evie Garratt. If she was alive she'd have just turned 100 (October 10th), and there's nothing out there about her birthday, so maybe she has died off the grid? Edit: found this

Was on my shortlist for 2020, heard he was completely away with the fairies in a care home.

About a month or so I was writing a post in the "People You Thought Were Dead" thread for Scotty Bowers, the legendary Hollywood "male madam" and gay pimp to the stars. The internet cut out and by the time it was back I'd forgotten about the post. Anyway, Scott Bowers has now died aged 96.

Welcome to the 100 Club Hal "Cornbread" Singer, jazz saxophonist and bandleader.

Yeah, when your own defence lawyer in his summing up calls you "one of the worst paedophiles in British legal history", you've not really got much of an upside.
-
Richard Huckle, nonce, shanked to death aged 33. DDP pick.
-
Bracknell has the benefit of being on teams this year. There is a good body of DDP casual players who just pick the names they've heard of that were in the Drop 40/winning teams last year, even beyond the straight-up Diana Rots graverobbing.

Kevin the Teenager's dad, for me.

They ain't the worst that you've seen.

Now listening to some dancehall:

Undefeated IBF/WBC welterweight champ Errol Spence Jr has flipped his Ferrari and is apparently in critical condition.

Did something similar recently, heard a mention of Clu Gulagar on a podcast and how the host had just had lunch with him or something. Assumed they meant "at his rest home" but apparently he's doing well and still hitting the convention circuit:
