Alabama 3's The Reverend D. Wayne Love has died, apparently following a performance at the Highpoint Festival. If you're wondering what he did in Alabama 3's most famous song.... the answer is nothing, his verse is cut out in the edit used for The Sopranos' theme tune.

Add Cecilia Chiang to the list of people who look far too good for their age. She's 99:

If we're doing listamanias, André Soltner (b.1932) is the only person still living who won a James Beard Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award in the 20th century. Other still living lifetime achievement winners: 2004: Alice Waters (b.1944) 2005: Jacques Pépin (b.1935) 2008: Fritz Maytag (b.1937) 2012: Wolfgang Puck (b.1949) 2013: Cecilia Chiang (b.1920) 2014: Sirio Maccioni (b.1932) 2015: Rich Melman (b.1942) 2016: Greg Boyle (b.1954) 2017: Nora Pouillon (b.1943) 2018: Paula Wolfert (b.1938) 2019: Patrick O'Connell (b.1938) I know Wolfert has dementia, but I'd be lying if I said I had any major insight into the health of the rest of that gang.

Carlos Altamirano, who was general secretary of the Chilean Socialist Party throughout the 1970s, dead at 96. He managed to escape to Cuba when Pinochet killed Allende, and ruled the party in exile. Chile's special forces unsuccessfully tried to assassinate him at General Franco's funeral in 1975 as well.

Assuming she gets the QO, this will come under my "an old person falling over is not an unnatural death" ruling.
-
Looks perfectly healthy in hit Netflix series Dead to Me.

I think IM Pei is the only person we have ever been told by The Committee would never be on the DL proper.
-
Dead but only announced by son so far. At his age he probably didn't have an agent so the press confirmation might take a few hours before they can ring around enough relatives.
-
Absolute madness.

Should have realised she was a suicide risk four years ago when she fell for this fake tweet:
-
Grumpy Cat is dead

Hang on a minute...

Eileen Bennett was still alive in 2018 at least. See this video about two minutes in: Her son is the Sound of Music actor Nicholas Hammond who keeps an infrequently updated Twitter account, and he's not mentioned her passing.

Day In The Death moves up into third and still has its joker (Ricksen) to play. New favourites?

Back on track, or one for the curse of "I've beaten cancer"?

I mean Jesus Christ, look at this:

This is her from two months ago:

WT Johnson was (admittedly deliberately) never going to QO unless he died in early January when his "inspiring speech" was still fresh in the news. Ezra Castro I thought would get a Mail QO but looks like I was wrong, unless they do his funeral... very small outside chance of a mention in the Guardian's American football coverage when the season kicks off but only if the Bills have a good run Granville Coggs has probably lost the window for an obit by now. Fay McKenzie I would assume is getting a Telegraph obit at some point, but I've said that on a few occasions this year and been wrong Mary Stopes-Roe and Machiko Kyo should have obits within ten days I'd say (Times for the former and Guardian for the latter?) Jack Cohen I have no idea Tommy Donbavand should get something being as Scream Street is big with ver kidz, but we'll see.

The lead story in your super soaraway this morning is that our Jezza has been battling a "toxic" tumour in his nutsack. Would be a shame to see such a talented, well-meaning man pass away before his time, I'm sure we'd all agree.

Very noble of ITV to cancel the Jeremy Kyle Show after one suicide among some 20,000 guests. A show that damaging and destructive has no deal being on the same platform as their marquee program, the two suicides in the last 80 contestants of Love Island.

Fay McKenzie, Jack Cohen, Mary Stopes-Roe, Granville Coggs, WT Johnson, Machiko Kyo, Ezra Castro, Tommy Donbavand. That's it at the moment, right?

The 4th Crowdsource Deathlist (2019 edition)
Spade_Cooley replied to Joey Russ's topic in Dead Pools
Goddamn, ya can't stop us now. 20 hits by August. -
Honestly thought Conway's death would put TLE back on top, but he didn't pick him...

RIP to a real one, Dorf was a staple of every over-65-who'd-learned-how-to-work-the-video-recorder's VHS collection in the late 80s/early 90s.
