Jimmy Banks, who despite enjoying the entirety of his professional career as an indoor player, started two games for the USA at the proper World Cup in 1990, dead at 54.
-
Saw a photo of him taken in hospital last month and knew he didn't have long left, hence him getting the Cup callup from me.

A DL favourite: 12 years since Alan Ball just popped downstairs to put that damn bonfire out. -
Ah yes, the first thing they teach in defence 101: try and form vertical line across the depth of the pitch.
-
Gets the honour of being the 100th DDP hit of the year as well.

Surely one of the few men to draw sellout crowds on top against both Bruno Sammartino and Big Daddy? Anyway, John Quinn is dead at 78.

Looks like the floodgates are fully open now.

Joining St Rumwold, Samantha Smith and Judith Barsi in the rare "celebs dead before 18" pantheon. -
No less an authority than Gary Kemp from Spandau Ballet is reporting Les Reed as dead. For those unfamiliar with his name, he wrote "It's Not Unusual", "There's A Kind of Hush" and Leeds United's "Marching On Together".

It's gonna be a bit like when the thick part of the ketchup finally comes out of the bottle. All we've had so far this year is that tomato precum, but as soon as we kick into overdrive big names are gonna be falling like 1945. -
Also, the List of the Missed is taking an absolute pounding. Seven people in the last nine days.
-
Something the person who takes over from me (we really should get some names together soon) has to look forward to: sitting waiting for some lazy British journo to C+P the AFP obit for Bibi Andersson so I can update the site and go to bed.

Few other names I found: Roy Houghton: 31/3/21 Cyril Lawrence: 12/6/20 Lawrence's whereabouts is known by the Rochdale website (they did a piece on him two years ago) so he's definitely still with us.
