Death Anniversary Thread

No more walking around for Pretty Boy Floyd today in 1934: -
"We Are Number One" but every "one" is replaced with a DeathList poster who has never heard of Lazy Town saying he isn't famous enough for his own thread.
-
Have you never seen The Sweetest Thing, which is truly one of the great awful movies of the 00s? Worth watching with the DVD commentary where everyone talks about what a piece of shit it is.
-
Time gets a unique with the schoolboy favourite Wim Kok.

OK, so due to work nightmares I've not touched the DDP this week. Just done an under-the-carpet update, am I right that Cicely Berry is the only death we've had since Doug Ellis? Paul Allen, Pik Botha and Denzil Davies have all been added to the LOTM.

From that article, about another potential castmate this season. See if you can guess who it is before you click across:

One for the 90s babies: catch up with what everyone in the video to "74/75" by The Connells has been doing since. -

"Dirty" Dick Slater dead at 67. One of the all-time great race-baiters of wrestling thanks to his work with Dark Journey.

Authors Last A Long Time, But....

You buried the lede, she was one of the two people (along with the also deceased Derek Hockridge) who translated all of the original Asterix run into English, managing to make all the puns work in a second language. Brief googling reveals her son is Times journalist Oliver Kamm, and he mentioned his mother was on the way out in a column in December 2017. Bit of a fail for all of you research buffs out there. -
Caroll Spinney, who has played Oscar the Grouch and Big Bird on Sesame Street since its inception, is to retire.
-
Valters Frīdenbergs, one half of Latvia's Walter and Kazha (finished 5th in 2005 with "The War Is Not Over"), dead at 30.
-
Another List of the Lost-er: Anthony Smith (whose name is common enough I don't need to disguise it), seemingly died two months ago according to posts on his JustGiving page. Unique pick for old school DDPers Drunkasaskunk, but no sign of a QO.

At what point does someone deserve their own thread?

Part of me wants to start a thread for "Anyone who comes into contact with Ariana Grande". I mean, Pete Davidson is gotta be straight back on the junk now, right? -

Personal rules: 1) Are they someone who will attract any interesting discussion? Cliff Richard probably isn't going to drop dead any time soon, but there's always lots of rumour and innuendo about him 2) Are they actually famous? Threads for the second bass player from The Bluetones probably aren't valuable 3) Are they in the public eye? Threads about hermits won't work, which is why I wouldn't start a, say, Bobbie Gentry thread. However, Jenny Ditski got a thread from me because she was very vocal on Twitter during her final months. 4) Are you post-whoring? Please don't. -

I think this is legitimately one of my 50 favourite songs of all time: -
Claire's Accessories. A British high street dead pool is clearly needed.

"The Godfather" himself, and arguably the last man to have an iron-clad grip on American organised crime, Carlo Gambino died today in 1976. Here he is (right-middle) alongside some other legitimate businessmen: -
Bret said Don Leo was the GOAT, and who am I to disagree? Pour one out.

Good to see she's finally worthy of bad clickbait.

If TJS holds on, or DITD win, it'll be the first DDP winner with a unique hit since 2014.

Thanks to Popbitch for letting us know Leslie now works at Jungle Star Line in Ramsgate, a shop owned by street tuff 80s icon Rebel MC.

100%. Well, if you spell her name properly there will be.
