Every single D-list and below media personality, journalist, social media figure and the like who has spent the past five years making ADHD "trendy" so that we're now in a country-wide shortage of ADHD medication. Good work lads, you enjoy the money from your book deals, podcast ad reads and the like, I'll just climb up the fucking walls for the next month and drink enough Red Bull to resurrect and then rekill Leah Betts so you can do that.

A catch-all thread I've been toying around with for a bit, for when you get stuck down a research hole and find someone of (minor) fame died a few years back with no mention on here, or indeed in the wider media. Anne Sellors, a Sheffield-based drama teacher who shot to viral internet fame due to her IMDB page containing one solitary credit - Woman Who Urinates on Herself in legendary TV movie Threads - died in 2015 aged 63. Also dying in 2015, this time at the age of 58, Labj Janjua. A journeyman singer for numerous Bollywood movies, a song he recorded for the 1997 film Legalised - "Mundian To Bach Ke" - was remixed by Panjabi MC and rereleased in 2002, going to #1 across the world (#2 in the UK) and selling over 10 million copies. And yet no mention outside of Indian-language entertainment press at the time of his passing.

Get me a chill pill mate, I'm burning up here.... As we all know, 90s chart regular and one of the few musicians to name themselves after a football manager who allegedly [deleted on legal reasons] Dario G is currently battling stage 4 rectal cancer. Mallorca Lee, of Ultrasonic and Public Domain, has "a matter of months" to live after being diagnosed with a terminal cancer of some sort. DJ Michael Bibi has given himself the "all clear" from CNS lymphoma, but probably worth keeping an eye on. And Matt James of Mashd N Kutcher has multiple myeloma, and doesn't sound too optimistic about his chances in interviews I've seen. Enough for a thread I'd have thought.

Mahieddine Khalef, Mekhloufi's co-manager during Algeria's 1982 WC campaign (where they were knocked out by the "Disgrace of Gijon"), dead just over a month later at 80.

Both Mangiones, both New Yorkers, definite facial similarity... related?

Bob Mackie had a fall last week on his way to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. 84, so up to you if you think that's a sufficient age for the "as soon as they start falling over they've got 18 months" rule.

Three teams of any stripe (so 3 theme teams, 2 theme teams and 1 normal team, 2 normal teams and 1 theme team, or three normal teams if you want everyone to mutter behind their backs and secretly think you're rigging the game).

Being as the Metro still carries an Indian entertainment gossip column, I suppose any big name player from the world of AZN cinema is in play, so fuck it, let's have a thread for them, especially with "the first Bollywood superstar" Shammi Kapoor currently on his 24th day in hospital for "age-related complications", and his younger brother Shashi Kapoor too weak to collect a lifetime achievement award earlier this year. Maybe also use this thread to reminisce about the very brief period where this board got excited about Lisa Ray before she turned out to be perfectly fine.

So, How's Your 2025 Shortlist Looking?
Spade_Cooley replied to Death Impends's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I think my prediction that 2024 would be won by whoever picked the right long-term "definitely dying of cancer this year" names from the likes of Doherty, Nolan and Whale (Shazza looking like the deciding hit as things stand) has borne out. My guess is that 2025 will go the opposite direction - with a lack of big, on-the-clock names out there, and all the second-tier picks already discussed on here, the title will probably go to whoever is brave enough to go for a unique QO punt or two. -

Absolute garbage tbh. Might just pick Mister Metokur as my joker. -
There's an alumni newsletter from the Naval Academy on his website that lists him as "Ted Hartley '46". Cross-referencing with the other names at the bottom of the piece, the years refer to when we know they graduated the Academy (1980 for Montel Williams, 1968 for Jim Webb). It says he was "appointed" to the Academy at the age of 16, but you can't start studying there until you're at least 17 (assuming the rules now are the same they were then). The maths aren't mathing here, as the kids say. EDIT: To muddy the waters even further, we know (or at least are told) he was in a plane crash in 1964 that forced him to give up a military life. This bio of him on an art gallery website from earlier this year gives his age at the time of that accident as 30, so a 1934 birth.

I mentioned elsewhere I was in Berlin for a week at the end of last month - Germany really isn't doing its reputation any favours by having two completely separate commercial campaigns currently running featuring Hasselhoff and "Looking for Freedom".

I always feel like I accidentally press ganged you into joining the DDP committee back in 2020 GUN, you not telling me to fuck off helped keep the site alive at that point.

So this guy not only bluffed his way onto the same football teams as Pele, Beckenbauer and Eusebio, he scored the key goal in the second NASL season? Fucking hell.

My guess is (and this theory may have holes in it): Real Jelinek born 1941, plays in World Cup (at a young age as well let's remember, he'd have been 21 during the final?) Fake Jelinek born 1946, starts playing football after Real Jelinek. At some point he decides to emigrate/seek asylum in a foreign nation, starting with Italy. He uses the fact that he shares the same name as Real Jelinek and passes himself off as him, getting trials and contracts with at least some minor French team, and possibly others. He's since kept up the charade and claimed to be the Real Jelinek, despite the years not matching up at all. His family are none-the-wiser, and so when it was reported that "Jelinek" had died, they contacted local media and said "what do you mean, he's still here?" The only thing I'm not sure is which Jelinek played for the Cosmos - Real Jelinek or Fake Jelinek. Anyone got a team photo of their 1971 roster?

Yeah, from 2021: here's a Czech interview with (the now dead) Jelinek. It says after he retired, he worked backstage at Bohemians. No chance to emigrate to the US at all. Plus, even more obviously: the US "alive" Jelinek says he was born in 1946. The dead, real Jelinek was born 1941.
