Today marks 50 years since the first episode of Columbo was broadcast: -
OK, I've done some more digging around. So "Stormy Weather", the old torch song. A cover version of that by The Five Sharps (notice the name?) from 1953 is one of the most valuable vinyls of all time, due to its rarity (the majority of copies were apparently destroyed in a warehouse fire, including the original masters). Here's Rick Harrison to talk you through it: Now when the The Five Shits released their cover of it, it was credited to "P Spector/J Lemmon". Who obviously weren't the songwriters. It does seem that The Five Shits/The Lytations/The Beatles were just massive wind-up/scam merchants. The fact that they were never sued suggests they were either a) really good at it or B ) really bad at it.

"What do you do?" "I'm in construction." "They don't feel like you're in construction." "Eh, I'm a union delegate..."

Specifically our Beatles expert around here.... What can you tell me about The Lytations, aka The Five Shits, aka The Beatles, a completely forgotten doo-wop band of the early 1960s? Am i right in understanding they had the name "The Beatles" back in the 50s, then an enterprising music label type had the idea to reprint one of their tracks in the 1970s under that name, even though they'd usually gone under the sobriquet The Five Shits? Or am I way off?

Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? has three names left: Bette Davis's irl estranged daughter BD Hyman, and the actresses who played and provided the singing voice of the young Baby Jane (Gina Gillespie and Debbie Burton, respectively). The first two are definitely alive, the third... who knows. -
Never a fan of selecting people in dead pools just because they've gone to prison, but do any of us really fancy the chances of Oxbridge-educated dinosaur research scientist and "Britain's worst hurtcore paedophile" Matthew Falder if things kick off in H-block? His Twitter account pre-arrest is still up:

Could have sworn grime MC Stormin had been mentioned around these parts, maybe he was just in my abandoned longlist from last year. Anyway, he’ s dead:

From around the world of football, the Bahia-Vitoria derby in Brazil called off after 50 minutes because nine players had been sent off. Apparently the final round of red cards was spurred on by this celebration:

Becca Schofield, medulloblastoma-stricken teenager who sparked the 2017 #beccatoldmeto Twitter trend encouraging people to perform random acts of kindness, has died aged 18. Would assume the Mail or Metro will pick it up at some point, but nobody plumped for her on the DDP.

Mugabe's obit pun will have to be some sort of "the land reclaims Bobby" wordplay, hopefully he'll stay alive long enough for me to nail it.

Former NWA Florida midcarder "Golden Boy" Jerry Grey fighting stage 4 colon cancer. Don't think he'll be making The Sun though, although he did train Billy Gunn.

Someone give The Amazing Red cancer, that'll answer that question.

Well that's that one gone as a unique possible March cup pick.

Yeah, he's a "BBC obit within 30 minutes of his death being announced" name. Up there with Jesus Gil when it comes to the classic nutjob foreign chairman of 90s football.

Don't think my boys have the cut-throat mentality for a cup competition, hence why DQSP has always favoured the league. I'm like the anti-Ancelotti.
