As the upload process continues unabated, I'm trying to work out who the most surprising person who makes their DDP debut this year is, someone you'd have assumed would have been picked before. Clive King and Peter Marshall are probably the biggest two.

Yr in: says I sent you an email at 1:05pm on NY Day, but Plusnet isn't the best....

Dickens is a proper borderline case. Really it's impossible to call any member of the Opry "not famous", but if you have absolutely zero interest in country music he's not someone you'd have heard of. The Aston Villa player who carked it in 2011 or 2012 whose name I've forgotten would have been a top 10er for the CSDL.

Let Us Bet On The Oscars 'in Memoriam' Package

They'll end with Lewis, he's bigger to an American audience than Moore by a magnitude. I think it'd take something like Clint Eastwood or Jack Nicholson dropping dead in the next fortnight to displace him. -
British model Harry Uzoka stabbed to death at 25.

Sorry, make that Motorhead guitarist and two people still alive. -
Goddamn the media's having a mare recently. Fast Eddie Clarke will be dancing down the streets next.

Death And The Scrabble Deficit
Spade_Cooley replied to DevonDeathTrip's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Wrestling's favourite screw-ups the Von Erichs surely have the distinction of most members of one generation beating the deficit? Chris Von Erich (26 > 21), Mike Von Erich (26 > 23) and David Von Erich (26 > 25), plus Jack Adkisson who died before he could become a pro-wrestler and get his name changed to Von Erich (30 > 7). Sadly Kerry Von Erich lived five years too late to beat his deficit, and Kevin Von Erich is a disgrace to his family name by still being alive. -

Love the first draft of the "celebrities we've lost this year" galleries. Motorhead guitarist, trans BB contestant nobody remembers and someone who's still alive, what a trinity. -
Didn't Taking The Michael also have a rare theme-team-leads-the-DDP-proper moment in the first week of whatever year Mike Marqusee died?

Terrorists & Topical Terrorist Targets
Spade_Cooley replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList Forum
One I'm surprised hasn't got any UK press coverage yet, and one that nobody in the DDP took a punt on: Temirlan Machalikashvili, shot in the head on Boxing Day in Georgia during an anti-Isis operation, has died. The reason we knew he was going to cark it and why he is of particular note is that Austria refused to take him into the country for treatment. -
STAN LEE STAN LEE STAN LEE STAN LEE STAN LEE STAN LEE. Because if it's not love Then it's the bomb, the bomb, the bomb, the bomb, the bomb, the bomb, the bomb That will bring us together

Dunno if I've ever mentioned it on here, but my laptop, purchased in the sales after the sales in 2015 and on which I'll be running the DDP from, has been named "Sadhana" as a little tribute to the Bollywood icon.

How did Ian Donaldson crash his car? Veered too far to the right.

Can't see Rick James, Terry Pratchett and Phil Hartmann making it to the end of the year.

Harlan Ellison, classic old school deadpool attention-whoring.

^^^Very important figure in the history of British wrestling, although perhaps not for the reasons he would have wanted. His match with Mike Marino in 1972 was subject of a News of the World front page expose exclusively revealing that wrestling was fixed.

The Rolling Probabilistic Ddp Scoreboard

There's two teams that were submitted this year that, I realise upon looking later, were identical except one had Helmut Kohl on it and the other didn't (replaced by Jimmy Carter maybe? Someone like that). Both from the same person. Normally I'd assume that he fucked up and sent the second team after realising his Helmut mistake, but the teams have different names and no part of the email contained a "my bad, woops" attachment. So there's two teams in with 19 identical names. He didn't bother including subs. Odd one.
