Mitzi Shore, "Godmother of American comedy", is apparently really really fucked up at the moment and would be lucky to make 2018. If she's there at the start line, consider this post a gift.

Went searching for Bobby's music taste, wasn't disappointed:

Great album.

This must be death of the year in Spain, because his carking it actually kept the Neymar-to-PSG story off the front of all of the sports papers down Iberia way.

Are any of them planning on vacationing in Guam?

Next Years Deathlist Creativity Thread

The big thing is trying to work out which legitimate British acting icons are now in the DL timeframe. Geoffrey Palmer's surely due a call up? Now Robert Hardy's dead, who else can look up disdainfully from a newspaper as well? -
Washed away like the snow and the rain...

The thing that put me over the edge on picking Brokenshire was the fact the TimesChess Twitter account tweeted a picture of him a few years ago, at the very worst I expect him to get a mentiion in a chess column at some point.

Finally time for a docent thread?

Former commodore of the HMS Raleigh and the owner of the world's largest puzzle collection, Laurie Brokenshire, died on Saturday. And now we wait.

Luis Ángel Firpo, the "Wild Bull of the Pampas" whose 1923 fight against Jack Dempsey is said to be the greatest heavyweight title clash in boxing history, failed to make the count today in 1960. Possibly the only boxer who has a football team named after him as well. -
It's funny because if you were trying to think of the most Celtic fan name possible, you'd probably end up with "Stevie Lennon".

Dionigi Tettamanzi, who I seem to remember being one of the rumoured candidates to take over when PJP2 carked it, dead at 83. -
Pat Coombs has been dead for 15 years so those records certainly go back.

Norma Miller is the last known surviving member of Whitey's Lindy Hoppers, the legendary 1930s dance troupe who performed at the Savoy. Now 97, she still keeps an updated Facebook page and even travelled to Italy earlier this year to perform as part of a show to celebrate 103 years since Frankie Manning's birth. Guaranteed Reuters obit I would have assumed.

This video is so much better/confusing/arousing/racist if you view it without any context:
-
Brinsworth is for "entertainers", Denville is for "ac-tors".
-
Baxter would be in Brinsworth not Denville, surely?

Guess you could say Hardy wasn't perennial.
