    Yeah, he's a committed Starmerite.

So, How's Your 2024 Shortlist Looking?

The longlist is now finalised (sans those darling celebs who announce their hospice stay over Xmas) at 93 names, excluding hangovers from this year/the return of Ryan Buell. There is one really good under-60 guaranteed QO pick that hasn't been mentioned on the boards yet. Theme team will probably be guests from the late, much-lamented Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast.

Are we really going to forget dogging-on-MCat-in-a-layby superstar Paul Ross's version of Jeopardy UK?

Guest appearance on a recent episode of TV show of the year, House of Villains. Still in a wheelchair, still looks bad.

    Celebrity Chefs

Glad someone else noticed that about the Knorr adverts, was worried it was just me seeing the world through a deadpool filter. But yeah, it's like he's trying to get himself into shot while the camera focuses on the other, non-dying biker.

People I Was Surprised To Find Are Still Alive

Marilyn Venable, who wrote the story story "Time Enough at Last", which was later adapted for one of the most famous Twilight Zone episodes (Burgess Meredith, nuclear bomb, lots of books, broken glasses) is apparently still alive at 95. She was in a retirement community in 2012 and still writing letters to her local newspaper the following year, but can't find any other immediate information about her.

Yep, she played Ellen, a one-off girlfriend for Chris, leading to one of Sethy Mac's best musical numbers:

Classic bee behaviour, always looking out for the queen.

    Hollywood Possibilities

Veteran Serbian actor Vojislav Govedarica dead at 83. However, of note in the west as, under the stage name Voyo Goric, he played Yushin, the lead henchman to Lieutenant Podovsky (Stephen Berkoff) in Rambo: First Blood Part II. He's the one that gets thrown out of the helicopter.

The Fringes Of Fame/family Of The Famous

Martin Patching, father of Luton Town striker Cauley Woodrow, dead at 65. Patching himself was a highly tipped player as a youngster, coming through the England youth setup, and made 90 appearances for Wolves before two cruciate injuries effectively ended his career in his early 20s. Went on to be a scout at Watford.

    Businesspeople, Investors, CEO's

Coverage in the Herald Sun in Australia and, oddly enough, the Irish Independent (as part of a column about how lots of famous people have died recently). Nothing QO-y. Probably would have got something if he'd died during the actual AFL season as part of a round-up in The Guardian, but as he went out-of-season it looks like he's a nobit. Like I said previously, I'd have thought "AFL player becomes European first gentleman" would have been Daily Mail manna, but apparently not.

Who Should Be On The 2024 Deathlist

Lemme just throw this one out there: Philip Zimbardo. Has that aura of low-end Death List about him, in very much a John Nash/Robert Pirsig kind of way. Was a regular tweeter up until January of this year when he just stopped. This is the most recent footage I can find of him, from nine months ago:

    Hollywood Possibilities

Very surprised at Dick Johnson dying off-the-radar. That's the Dick Johnson of Dick Johnson Is Dead, the big Netflix documentary produced by his daughter detailing his dementia.

US Ensemble Dramas/HBO Box Set Shows

Cross-posting from the Hollywood Possibilities thread, but SAG-AFTRA announcing the death of Timothy Nolen, who played mob expert Jeffrey Wernick on The Sopranos (and one of the early Sopranos cash-in books was written under the name of Jeffrey Wernick, making me think he was a real person for ages).

So, How's Your 2024 Shortlist Looking?

I have never seen a year with so many 6/10 deadpool picks up for grabs. It's like fantasy football except every single player is James Tarkowski.

She was the star of one of the biggest shows on Netflix for nearly a decade. I think she might just about get a QO.
