The problem is though, how do you determine that someone is "only famous for being ill"? Winnie Johnson? Well she'd been a regular appearer in the newspapers for nearly 50 years. Anne Williams? Actually won a BBC Sports Personality of the Year Special Merit award. Lisa Lynch? Had written for most of the major national newspapers, journos always obit themselves. Steve Evans? OK, maybe not "famous" in any way but he was a prominent figure in his community. All of these people would have obitted if they'd have been hit by a car rather than having cancer. Also, all four got BBC TV obituaries. Which is more than maybe 50% of "legitimate celebrity" picks will get.

Galento definitely trying a bit too hard to force his gimmick here.

I do hope that TMIB is leaving out of a sense of "I've taken this team as far as I can" rather than nervous exhaustion from too many hours of "does this count as an obituary?" emails. If his replacement handles the DDP with half the dignity when dealing with a bunch of whining ambulance chasers he does, we'll be in good hands.

TMIB undoubtedly the GOAT for all this, credit to a man who has had to create so many painful puns over the years. Provided more entertainment for me than any other internet sites. Any particular names already being floated for webmaster?

1959 Grand National-winning jockey, and father of Peter, Michael Scudamore dead at 81.

Burney won't be attending the Birmingham Blues Festival this year, and this benefit being held for him says he still hasn't picked up an instrument since his diagnosis. Little else in the way of updates about him out there but I still fancy him as a 2014 passer.

Sorry that was a typo.I do know how to spell coma , honest ! shit hot grammar either Wasn't that a Nelly single?

Percentage-wise, how big are my chances of getting an obituary for Alice Babs until December 31? http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/artists/6ae56e30-d394-4d18-8118-6a0a2b77eaaf If you'd listened to the radio shows listened on the right, maybe they would have had some direct mentions to her death. Better start tracking down some recordings.

Special announcement? Are we finally getting sponsorship?

Dead at 97. I assume the changing face of online journalism and the movie they've made of him in the past five years will safely see him get the Daily Mail obit.
-
Doyle would get an obit, I'm 100% sure of it. Willing to bet Victoria Coren's already written it as well. Although Texas Dolly collects cancers like most people collect commemorative plates.

Second poker player of some vague note dead within a week, as Chad Brown dies of cancer aged 52. He had a WSOP bracelet, although it was an "honorary" one given to him when it became apparent he wasn't going to make it through this year. If guest was here, he'd say something like "maybe sam simon will be the third poker player in a row to die"

All I need now is someone to reupload Jarvis Cocker's Stars In Their Eyes appearance as Rolf.

Meshach. And nobody outside the US has ever seen an episode of "Designing Women". Just say "the black guy from Mannequin".

iirc throughout the 60s and 70s, during his UK invasion, Murdoch was renowned for his ability to get by with fuck all sleep (something like 20 hours a week total during the launch of The Sun/attempted kidnap and murder of his wife). The exercise is something that was apparently forced on him by Wendi Deng, when she wasn't bouncing around on Tony Blair's cock.

This woman's story is too fascinating to be ruined by a guest shitpost. She held pretty much every female nonagenarian athletics record, recently ran a 100 metres in 22 seconds and was still able to complete in the long and high jump in her nineties. http://timesofsandiego.com/sports/2014/06/25/olga-kotelko-track-field-superstar-dies-at-95-amid-book-fame/

Somehow, they're all still alive. Saunders has overcome breast cancer, Coltrane is usually regarded as the greatest coronary risk, and Allen is presumably the people's choice to die slowly of a long and lingering illness. But still: which early 80s Channel 4 oh-so-shocking content filler do you think will be renewing their working relationship with Peter Cook first?

He hasn't tweeted since he posted this on Monday, I'm assuming the scan results weren't "you're completely fine, go and live it up".
