Betty Driver Memorial Soapstar Superstar Thread

Could have gone in the "old British sitcom actors" thread, but fuck it, she's in Corrie these days. Well, was. God is waiting for Stephanie Cole. Come along, Tom. And as her character is being suddenly written out in the middle of what should be a big storyline for her... well, might as well pencil her in now. She certainly "feels" like a DeathList pick, she's got that Clive Dunn "has seemingly been ancient for decades". She wasn't even 40 when Open All Hours started. -

Ten years to the day since Don Estelle died, never forget he had a number one single with "Whispering Grass" back in 1975. His daughter carried on the tradition when her song, "American Boy", topped the charts over 30 years later. That's my joke for the day. -

Also calling it a day on August 1, 2003, Guy Thys, an overlooked member of the "name a famous Belgian" club. He helmed that sadly forgotten great Belgian national side of the 1980s, finishing runners-up in the 1980 Euros and fourth in the 1986 WC. And, let's be honest, they were robbed by the man three posts up's England team in 1990. -
Corey Maclin, one of the 50,000 people who claimed a right to ownership of the Memphis Wrestling federation name/video library, and a long-time promoter/commentator/personality in the territory, dead in a car accident at 43.

You've cleared this with Harrods, right? They've not got back to me yet, although Halfords are confirmed as a plan B.

The Fringes Of Fame/family Of The Famous

In a new low for British newspaper websites chasing US hits, the fucking Independent has reported on the death of the mother of some US public radio DJ. And yet still Jack Pardee's obit remains as forgotten as Adam Rickitt. -
Can anyone doubt the DDP's position as the home of the best deadpoolers on the planet? I am cordially inviting any member of stiffs.com to come to London and to suck my dick in Harrod's window. I will pay airfare.

^^^I really, really hate you. She was in The Sting, Clue and Murder By Death, starring our old pal Peter Falk.

Pretty sure this is the first person I've ever had on a fantasy football team that's gone on to die. Amr Zaki and Pavel Pogrebnyak must be shitting it now.

Unless I'm searching wrong, we don't have a thread for "curses", lots of people associated with a certain field or project who've all died young. I'd set one up, but I don't know how much longevity it'd have. Anyway, of the people featured in the video for Peter Kay's hilarious "500 Miles" cover back in 2007, Frank Sidebottom, Terry Nutkins and Kathy Staff are now all dead, alongside the Yewtree'd Michael Levell and Dave Lee Travis. So Robert Powell, Limahl and Paul Henry should probably get that lump on their nutsack checked out.

Yeah, "Fat Lip" was a great song.

2013 DDP Dumping Ground And Salvage Lot

Winifired. Would have gotten me perhaps the least-deserving points in DDP history as well if I'd have found it. -
Yet more retirement rumours, talking of "the last of many straws": He knows it's over?
-
Article missing a section where the journalist asks DDP: "So, when your wife and Eric Bischoff's wife used to lez out in hotel rooms with you two jacking off over them, what was all that about?"

Actually, Teddy Lucic retired back in November 2010. http://www.laget.se/velebit/Troop/935072/Teddy-Lucic

And his replacement, Jokichi Igarashi, lasted a mediocre 18 days as world's oldest man. Your new world's oldest man is Arturo Licata, a Sicilian and now the only male aged over 110 on the planet. Here's our boy settling down with a nice cassata on his last birthday.

This guy seems to have been a bit of a "character". Arranging non-existent friendly matches, allegations of match fixing, improper player registrations as an agent... and also very little, if no, evidence of him ever actually playing for the Nigerian national team. I think dude might have been the Lagos equivalent of the guy in the corner of the pub telling you he "played four games for Spurs, but I had a gammy knee, had to give it up. Hoddle said I was the best young player he'd ever seen you know?"

Phil Woosnam, former Welsh international and one-time manager of the US national team, dead at 80. He was also Ian's cousin.

Thus both "Mels" from both "Mel and Kims" are now dead.

Yeah, her and Sue Perkins were a fantastic double act.
