Almost as if I couldn't be bothered to photoshop recently dead celebrities onto pictures of Sepp Blatter drawing World Cup groups this year. Hopefully a different large corporation will go bankrupt every month until August so I can keep this up.

According to a tweet here, and seemingly backed up by replies, early 2010s Twitter irritant OldHolborn has died of cancer. Was "exposed" in the press as "Britain's vilest internet troll" back in the day due to his habit of making Hillsborough gags.

I get it, you mean more "The [x] Band" or "The [y] Five", rather than "here is a band named after a boxer from the 30s". Would Lord Rockingham's XI count?
-
Sigur Ros are named after one of the bandmembers' sister, iirc, but few people outside Iceland would process "Sigur Ros" as a person's name.

I'm going to guess that David Crosby's PR firm would have its own domain name, and not use Gmail accounts.

Princess Margaret died on a Saturday. I know this because I always used to go to the cinema on a Saturday and I remember the ticket-checker telling me she was dead as I went in to watch The Royal Tenenbaums. -
May have been overplayed in the mid-00s "hey look I discovered some obscure Europop, how wacky" era, but undeniably a great, great song.

Derek Roan, who had appeared on the BBC documentary series This Farming Life, trampled to death by one of his own cows.

Bizarrely, there is a discussion of this in the latest Football Cliches, as to whether or not an NBA professional can be a "lovely little player".

He's taking Popmaster with him, which means I must also depart to GHR.

Four days left to register, eight teams shorter than last year at the moment...

Kevin Nash has definitely deteriorated rapidly since his the deaths of his son and best friend, ballooning in weight, clearly drinking very heavily and joking-not-joking about suicide. https://streamable.com/galtkm

Death reported, aged 65, of the Danish player Jann Hoffmann. Made the last 16 of the BDO World Championship twice (1990 and 1993), but opted to step back from the sport when the Great Split happened. Came back a decade to play some Euro events and twice represented Denmark at the World Cup.

First Celebrity Death You Remember

I think I discussed this on the forums before. I can remember kids TV (maybe Going Live?) talking about how Roald Dahl had died the week he passed, but the first death I can remember hearing about when it happened was when they interrupted TV broadcasts to tell us that Rajiv Gandhi had been assassinated. -
Definitely the biggest mob arrest since Riina nearly 30 years ago. Was it Denaro who they tried to track by working out what his online gaming handle was because he was known to enjoy a game of Pro Evo in his downtime?

There is absolutely nobody with any amount of legit fame called "Kevin Chin". Although looking through that entrant's team, we can assume there's a good chance of spelling errors so we might want to go through variants. Also the Geoff Capes selection implies the team was picked by a Brit, so I doubt it's Kevin Cheng, the Hong Kong TV actor. Progressive rock bassist Kevin Chown? Sommerset bowler Kevin Shine? Or did he mean to pick Jackie Chan, and got him confused with his character in Police Story Kevin Chan? And then spelled it wrong?

I think this is Ms. Pink's Facebook profile. She was from Essex so living in London isn't that much of a stretch, the woman in the photos looks about 70, and more importantly, she has friends with the surname Georgiou, which was the name of the lover who gave her AIDS.

Mark Stokes died on the 13th, so we now await the QO.

Mentioned a few times on the forum before, journalist, historian and perpetual Pinochet apologist Paul Johnson dead at 94.
