You do learn about some vaguely interesting people from running pools. For instance, Nathaniel Ian Wynter was a backup keyboardist for Bob Marley, and as such later adopted the stage name of Natty Wailer. He was the keyboardist for Marley's last ever concert in 1980, testified against Marley's estate in a songwriting dispute court case and recorded with the likes of Pete Tosh and King Tubby. He moved to Ireland in 2000, after falling in love with a local woman, which is why all the stories about his hospitalisation - and subsequent death - are from the Irish media. A unique hit for Sideik, who now has the second most points in the round and thus will surely be looking forward to his upcoming match against.... oh. His actual darts nickname is Theo Cunt.

Picking Parker rather than losing faith in him was a nod to the modern DDP style of playing where it's basically a version of game theory (which was what Salmon effectively won with last year): the damage gained by not picking him and him dying was far greater than the damage caused by picking him and him staying alive.

Looking at it, and I didn't realise this at the time, my team this year does resemble a classic DQSP lineup from the glory years: guaranteed QO young joker, two or three well-picked uniques, and a reliance on low-owned names rather than Drop 40 essentials. No "old-as-fuck five-yard tap-in five-pointer" though, so if I lose this year's DDP based on not picking Leslie Phillips, I may be slightly annoyed at myself.

The Fringes Of Fame/family Of The Famous
Spade_Cooley replied to maryportfuncity's topic in DeathList Forum
From very much the school of "you wouldn't have thought that would have had a child still living", Maria Romana De Gasperi, daughter of Alcide De Gasperi (first prime minister of the Italian Republic), dead at 99. -
Of note, Tan Hong Djien, having featured in all nine competitive internationals the Dutch East Indies ever played, has the record for 100% participation in any national team's fixtures. I'm pretty sure he's dead though.

Hughie Green with a near 20-year-long thread after vanishing from TV in the late 70s, with occasional bursts of life when it's revealed he's Paula Yates' dad/addicted to barbiturates/attempting to resurrect his career in the Soviet Union/been contacted by intelligence services about being the information minister in a right-wing shadow government. -
Just deleted a bunch of messages, hopefully we're good now.

Peter Falk was in Pressure Point with Sidney Poitier who was in The Jackal with Bruce Willis.

Tom Parker may have been one of the most-wanted deadpool picks of the past 15 months, but only one man was "glad he came" and alt obits guy walks like Rihanna into a probably uncatchable lead in their clash. Not to suggest that you're Peter Falking, but you have already complained about Les Jenkins being accepted as a pick upthread.
-
Two members of that theme team dead already this year, despite only one carking it in the whole 12 months they were in action. Similar to Lee Aaker and Hank Aaron both going from my alphabetical order effort the previous time out.
-
Cycling journalist Richard Moore dead at 49. Wrote for the Telegraph and Guardian, podcast host and wrote the critically acclaimed Robert Millar/Philippa York biography.
-
Alan Jeapes, who designed among other things the Eastenders logo, the 80s BBC 2 ident and the old BBC news clock, died in 2010 according to both IMDB and this guy's family history page. You would have thought someone who has a back catalog that gets him a permanent display at a British university would have qualified for a QO somewhere, but I can't see one.
-
OK, so for the three currently tied matches: Salmon Mousse is ahead on average age. As for the other two, here are the coin toss results: So Captain Hemlock and The Old Crem, unless DeathByArsenic or HDS score a hit in the next 38 hours, you'll be playing in Round 3.

What Are You Listening To Right Now?
Spade_Cooley replied to Joey Russ's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I've said it before, but I still think in outright terms of "how the fuck did this happen?" the biggest cover disparity has to be Richard Thompson covering Bowling for Soup: -
Fuck me, why did it take the Guardian 19 hours to file this as a story? If I'd done that in my fourth estate fake news factory I'd have been called up before the managing editor.

Early stage breast cancer for Dawn Butler.

Apparently we all missed the passing of Sir Cunto's joker, Tim Aldridge. Weird, as you'd have assumed the chaplain of a school in Taunton would have been front-page news. I would have rejected him as a pick in fairness, but some googling revealed his previous job was chaplain of Shebbear College, which is one of the most notable Methodist schools in the UK and was behind the original missionary drive to convert China to Christianity so... yeah, he scraped under the wire. Kudos to SC. It's not completely dead for his opponent in this round Book though as I've decided this counts as a QO for Luang Pho Yai. KnowYourMeme might not be a 100% traditional news outlet but it does daily updates and employs "editors" and "writers". While some of its content is user-generated, the most recent edits to Yai's page were by a full-time employee of KYM. So Book and sideik claw back some ground in their ties and I've booked myself in to lose against gcreptile. Was I deliberately searching for a QO so I'd have more free time over the next week? Not for me to say. Finally got around (read: there's finally a decent torrent out there that's not in Spanish) to watching Jackass Forever last night. The Knoxville stunt where he suffers brain damage is absolutely fucking brutal. Probably more notable for us deadpoolers though is how little Dave England and Preston Lacy contribute to the new movie - the new fat guy they have takes 95% of the stunts Lacy would normally have performed, so I assume his body's a lot more broken down than the rest of the cast.
