You may find this one helps too (especially for those following the Max Schmeling thread) "EuroEnglish" The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be the official language of the EU rather than German, which was the other possibility. As part of the negotiations, Her Majesty's Government conceded that English spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5 year phase-in plan that would be known as "EuroEnglish" In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c". This will certainly make the sivil sevants jump with joy. The hard "c" will be dropped in favor of the "k". This should klear up konfusion and keyboards kan have 1 less letter. There will be growing publik enthusiasm in the sekond year, when the troublesome "ph" will be replaced by the "f". This will make words like "fotograf" 20% shorter. In the third year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reach the stage where more komplikated changes are possible. Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters, which have always ben a deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horible mes of the silent "e"s in the language is disgraceful, and they should go away. By the fourth yer, peopl wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th" with "z" and "w" with "v". During ze fifz year, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaining "ou" and similar changes vud of kors be aplid to ozer kombinations of leters. After zis fifz yer, ve vil hav a reli sensibl riten styl. Zer vil be no mor trubls or difikultis and evri vun vil find it ezi tu understand ech ozer. ZE DREM VIL FINALI KUM TRU!

It appears that there are some things we can agree on: Max Schmeling was a boxer He was German He was used as a propaganda tool by Hitler, albeit apparently unwillingly Now, whether this then qualifies the description 'Hitler's Boxer' is open to debate. What is not is that this site has not described him as a Nazi in the description. In addition, anyone coming to this forum, and reading this thread, would, I believe, be left in no doubt that German does not equal Nazi, that membership of the Party did not automatically make you a genocidal maniac, that Max did help save Jewish children. In that respect, some people may actually learn something that challenges their opinions and prejudices.

I agree with Amanda. Good spell in rehab, away from all those drugs that may tempt him. At least until we can add him to the 2006 List

Is that Rick with a silent P?

Who was it? My computer wont let me access the link Have fixed the link - but to answer your question, Martyn Bennet.

I don't think they have the same succession issues that the PLO recently experienced. After all, the next one will be the 264th Pope (not counting the anti-Popes), so they have some procedures for this. Given that the next Pope is elected by the Cardinals, I would have expected that 'papabile' have already been quietly working behind the scenes. Death of a Pope

There is a thread somewhere on this website that Mr Teddy answered that very question, unfortunately, I don't remember what thread it was on. I've no doubt he will bring it into this one if he reads this. Always happy to be of service, as I said to Mrs Teddy just the other evening Happy Birthday...oops The link originally appeared in the JPII thread. It is not exhaustive, but one thing it does cast doubt upon is the Shakespeare inclusion.

Almost a Beatle Heard this first on the radio, and thought they were talking about Paul - even though we all know he is already dead Then thought DWB would have to change his name. Now relieved that is not the case

Welcome Jim. Afraid we don't really go for advertising in a big way here, so have removed the links - although should anyone be interested, I feel sure googling your name will come up with your site.

So, a bet he lost then

Too many though and his engine may blow. Any volunteers to head up the Jeffrey's tube and check out the core?

As you can see from GR's post, there was no criticism of the rules of DDP, which are very clear - just different from our own. This has also been pointed out in other threads (especially the possibles for 2005 and 2006). Now - if DDP had a forum, and we were constanly arguing there about the rules, I could see the point, but to take fair comment regarding the difference in rules between the sites, and how they effect the scores between ourselves and other competitors, seem to be stretching things a little too far.

I'm sorry. The editorial policy of this site only allows changes to posts which are offensive, rather than merely pointless. Although, to be fair, without your post, I would not have noticed the striking similarity between Michael Jackson, and ghost smiley I wonder if they are related

He was mentioned as a possible a few months back.. Not Noble but he was left out on the basis that he was only famous because of his illness. As baz and The Four Horsemen pointed out, if it wasn't for his illness, could any of us have claimed to have heard of him? Our rules here are slightly tighter, in that people need to be famous for more than just about to die. Hence the exclusion of anyone on Death Row unless they also pass the famousness test. Oh, and that is just an explanation - it is not to say we are right and other death pools are wrong - just that we are different. Thought I'd better say that before Rude Kid takes offence

From the article... I think we should be safe

It's amazing what you can find on the net - someone even has a page dedicated to some game called Runescape There, you can find a guide to 'fletching' - although after finding this definition, I don't really think I want to read the guide!!

Never mind standard, I think that was an attempt to post with the minimum amount of punctuation.

Makes me wonder why you then logged in as guest and asked for the address. Short term memory loss? Split personality? Just looking for something to say?

I could aways have edited my post - but I will hold up my hands and blame my poor typing. I don't know where that 'e' came from - must be something to do with my Irish grand-parents Anyway, can't stay long. The snows are starting to melt, and I must hunt some haggis for next week.
