People I Was Surprised To Find Are Still Alive

Bit of a weird one, but currently reading a book on Fausto Coppi (long gone) but the cyclist Raphael Geminiani is quoted and referenced a fair bit on cycling in the late 1940s and 1950s. Given the amateur drug taking - freely admitted in this book, he’s still strong at the age of 93. That does surprise me as the book by William Fotheringham on Coppi came out 10 years ago. Will be worthy of a obit for 6 podiums on the Grand Tours (TfF, Giro and La Vuelta)

    Drunk? Bored?? Psychopath???

I’m generally a gentle chap at work, but I have a new work colleague who pushes every button in my head and frankly I want to chin the cunt. I’ve suffered 4 hours this evening with this prick and I’ve gone from being a calm happy man to a near Gibbering murderous wreck. I need wine. Fucking bucket of the stuff.

    Crashing Companies

There does appear to be a sort of rationalisation happening between House of Fraser and Debenhams here in Devon. House of Fraser is closing in Exeter but keeping Debenhams whereas I can see the opposite happening in Plymouth. What’ll happen to the small store in Torquay for House of Fraser remains to be seen, but as it’s in a prime location on the seafront and there’s a bit more money with a Debenhams next door. With Mike Ashley so involved something has to give, and I’m of the thoughts Debenhams will go leaving House of Fraser in Torquay and Plymouth and with John Lewis as the only department store in Exeter.

    Drunk? Bored?? Psychopath???

That’s awful, whilst the carts for removing to the morgue aren’t nice to see, there is at least an attempt at dignity from what I’ve seen in the UK. They try to be quiet and if in daytime close the ward off to the public - in my experience we were given a voucher to get a coffee at the coffee shop and the curtains surrounding all beds were all closed. Glad and to hear his progress is slightly more positive mate in the above.

    The Dead of 2019

Sad news from BBC North West. Dianne Oxberry has died having been the weather presenter for 20+ years having been on Radio 1 Breakfast with Simon Mayo before in the early 90s. (Mods- please move to correct thread as I’m at work so can’t look thanks)

    Crashing Companies

The Christmas trading figures for Debenhams were dreadful. Down over 3% year on year. Talking to creditors which are progressing well. Having been in the store last week, if it’s here this time next year then I’ll be very surprised.

    Watched Any Quality Porn Lately?

True story time. Many years ago I was watching watching some porn ) well it was on in the background with my then husband. I happened to look at the scene only to recognise the flat that it had been filmed in. Turned out my mate had hired his flat out to make adult films. Killed the moment for me watching 2 fellas at it on the kitchen worktop where not a week earlier I’d been cooking pastry.... I also have another friend whose been in a Triga film. Quite changed my opinion of him after watching that.....

    Docter Docter!

There’s a vicious chest infection doing the rounds in Devon and Cornwall. It’s knocked me for 6, on antibiotics which I hate and I’m off work now. I know of at least a dozen people off with it, starts as a light cold then heads right for chest after a day. Last night I burned up in bed with the infection and slept with nothing more than a sheet. Dont wish this on my worst enemy

We told a good friend that as their hamster had died, they could resist the death at Xhamster. How was I to know her kids would look it up on the iPad?

Thoughts and opinions on the death list 2019

It’s a good list imho , whilst I don’t think we’ll get the 2017 heights, a good 14 will fall. Agree on the miss of Jill Gascoine however but we’ll see
