CRISIS OF INFINITE DEATHS 8/50 6th May 2022 Highly respected comic book artist George Perez has died, after a long battle with cancer, to give The Crowdsourced Deathlist another success. Perez worked with Marvel Comics from the early 70s, and became known as the principle artist for The Avengers. With their widely popular movie franchise, any "Emma Peel?" jokes here will be incredibly dated. (No, I cannot slip a Diana Rigg reference into anything, honestly...) Early on, he was interested with metafiction and multiverses, and in one case, drew a story where the Fantastic Four met their own creators. (An idea Stan Lee borrowed time and again!) In the 1980s he moved to DC Comics, penning their highly successful New Teen Titans series, and rebooting Wonder Woman. He also come up with Crisis on Infinite Earths, an all star DC series involving most of their heroes in a multiverse, which sounds like every comic book film ever nowadays. Perez was widely respected in his industry and counted among his fans the likes of Neil Gaiman. He announced late stage pancreatic cancer last year and found himself on the list. We note that cruelty of fate that a man clearly beloved in his field is no more, yet that fucker Tobin continues to breathe.

Well, he certainly killed others. His earliest murder he was convicted of was, in the words of folk who worked on it, far too professional ie by an experienced killer. Many Glaswegians are convinced Tobin was actually Bible John. One of John's victim's happened to live on the same street as Peter Tobin at the time, either that's really bad luck in terms of meeting serial killers, or there's a link. I concur that from what they've told the public about the Jessie Earl case that Tobin does sound a likely candidate. Thing is, like Brady, he's going to die without us knowing all of his victims because he gets off on the misery. He'll be dead sooner than later, and not a moment too soon.

Yeah but you ever seen how many episodes of Star Trek there is? Millions! Everyone was in them. Hell, I'm sure even @Bibliogryphon had a 3 episode run in the mid 90s!

He was misdiagnosed, doesn't count.

Reminds me of Kate Granger. Clearly made of hardy stuff, got lucky with some newer treatments responding for a bit, but in the end, terminal cancer always wins. tbh my first thought was "her poor kids". The youngest is only about ten.

Sunny's been officially charged with causing death by drunk driving and various other serious charges, in an incident where she was over three times over the blood alcohol limit, and driving with a suspended licence. She's on bail till end of the month, but yeah, she's going to be in jail for a long time... if she survives to trial.

Got the BAFTA fellowship (their lifetime achievement award). Did a recorded bit to camera. Not at deaths door but his illness has progressed a fair bit in the last 2 years and there was a few moments where he was struggling for words.

LOTM by looks of it. Which, given he's pretty much A-list British TV and in his 70s, tells you how expected this is!
-
tbh I was trying to do well so I have no idea why I picked him. It was low down the list so I was maybe running short of inspiration by that point.

Given his health issues and his cult status, Chuck Wepner is absolutely a name I could see the Cmme go for.
-
Nope. I've heard of it as a Netflix (?) show but not seen it.

I'd never heard of them before. Interested to see how they do.

Political Discussions And Ranting Thread
msc replied to Deathray's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
It's very early still but Labour won the Tory flagship London councils as expected, and also Barnet (quite good going given how toxic they were there 2 years ago), but have also won in Cumberland where they did notoriously shite under Miliband and Corbyn. I didn't expect Workington and Carlisle going Labour. Lib Dems continue to feast on Tory votes in the south of the country. Scotland/Wales/N Ireland still to declare. Red Wall pretty much level with 2018 voting, which was before the collapse there. First step forward for Labour in a long time, but they've got a lot of work still to do. Obviously the Mail/Tory leaks of 800 seat losses were utter bollocks. But I think most of us knew that one. -
Was tempted to go "Oh shit, Crem was right" and get a bomb shelter, but apparently their prediction was 100 million, not 15, the memory fails!

Pointed out to me that Pan Breed now have 92 hits in DDP history, all time. The century is getting close. Exciting news (to me and me alone)!

They have specific turtle hospitals?

You'd expect the Ghost of Kyiv to haunt folk regardless!

Wakefield not yet announced as last I saw the mp hadn't officially resigned yet!
-
About time to say Congrates and Good luck to Reptile. Not so much a Cup rivalry as an annual curb stomping!

If losing North Shropshire was an election losing level defeat, losing Tiverton (with split opposition) is landslide territory. I don't think we're quite there. (Prove me wrong, Tiverton voters...)

Obligatory defence of someone I'm not keen on. That note was a running joke between changes of government going back to ww2 at least. He would have had no idea Cameron would use a friendly tradition as attack fodder.

Paddy Doherty recovering after heart attack. Doesn't strike as one that'll make old age.

DDP pick for my theme team, in fact. I'll admit that I think Dalek Invasion of Earth is the only thing I've seen her in, off the top of my head.

He's currently doing a remote signing thing for fans via one of the convention organising teams. I mean, I could always be proven to be wrong in general one day, but Tom Baker isn't just some much loved TV actor. People actually have his phone number, and have meals with him, and chat with him all the time. When he dies, the tidal wave of grief from fans who knew him isn't going to be hidden for a month. Look at how quickly Jon Pertwee's death was world news, and that was before the internet was a major thing. Terrance Dicks kept his ill health private, and died quietly, and the news was everywhere within 4 days. People love Tom. The news will be everywhere on the remorseful day.
