Ah, so what you're saying is that Sisters weren't doin' it by themselves?

Political Discussions And Ranting Thread
msc replied to Deathray's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Well, we don't have an independent report (we have one commissioned from within about within) but given the police have considered tweets by drunken no names in the past as prejudicing their investigations, no chance was Sue Gray's report escaping that. Anyhow, smells a bit of Owen Patterson to me? If they'd just gone "Yep, it was a party, sorry", people would have been fucked off but forgot it eventually. It's the trying to cover it up and look superior to everyone else that's sinking them. -
You had to suspect brain damage when he showed up on Smackdown and looked happy to be there.

I think Spade's criteria carry the few threads I've started: Chomsky - old, A list name, DLy and now on the DL itself. Marsh - old, News at Ten name, in poor health Hume - DLy, very famous and very unwell. Died within 3 years. Fielding - very DLy and gravely unwell - lasted a month, alas. Hardy - Felt DLy but also was not as busy as he used to be - dead within 2 years. Ringo Starr - done to piss off Deathray. Werner Herzog - created when pished

For lack of a better place to put it, this week Talking Pictures showed an interview with Melvyn Hayes filmed in October 2021 (it might be on their new online archive too) - and he frankly looks and sounds great for his age. Just turned 87.
-
Oh no, that's very sad news - but doesn't feel unexpected.
-
Even the May elections might be a false dawn for them. The Tories only hold about 1 in 3 seats up for grabs in May, and surely most of those must be safe seats. If it was the 2023 elections (when they have fucking shitloads of councils, not just seats, with little between them and second place) it would be a massacre. They need someone competent in charge by then as that'll likely be the big signpost before the next general election.

tbh he's lied so often I can't remember the specific lies he told at the time but just take it as read now. Manifestly unfit to run an Aldi, let alone the country.
-
Most of those names wont live long enough to be worth a thread tbh. Doddie might be on the DL next year, but maybe let Grim make the thread at that point if its needed. The admin can easily add all the pertinent Doddie Posts into the thread after the fact.

Sounds like they thought he had cancer elsewhere, had the full scan and caught it in the lungs instead? COPD for years plus a lung cancer scare. Gone in 18-24 months tops imo.
-
Looking forward to that!

50s - old enough to tease folk about their age, far too young to do age stuff like, you know, die. imo. Age perspective is weird anyhow - Hugh Grant, Colin Firth and George Clooney are all older than Clark Gable and Gary Cooper ever got now, and Jeff Goldblum's going to be older in the next Jurassic World film than Richard Attenborough was in the first Jurassic Park movie! Family history seems to be folk live longer the less ciggies they had. None of the alcoholics saw 70, but the oldest members of my family all drink in moderation. I don't smoke and I take more care of myself now in my 30s than I did 15-20 years ago, primarily because I don't want to be like my grandfathers, chronically ill in their 50s and dead by 68.

My great gran, born in 1900, was nearly 97 when she died. Her life almost stretched the entire 20th Century. I still remember her well but my younger siblings don't.

European Cup winner with Feyenoord, won the league with Celtic and famously ended the 10 in a row challenge from Rangers. A lot of the huge names in Scottish football from the 90s are snuffing out of late.
-
tbf it's becoming clear why he can't remember specific parties after so many of them. Reminds me of Scottish footballer Willie Johnston (still alive and a QO cert one day btw) who got busted for "a banned substance" at the 1978 World Cup, he's alleged to have told the drug testers: "Oh, I take those all the time!"

If I ever met the Queen, I think we all know how the conversation would go. "So, you are telling one that one cannot get points in the Derby Dead Pool for removing one's picks from life?" "That is so, your majesty." "Bollocks. Call off the hit team on Andrew..."
-
Not that I don't trust him, but if I saw Superstar's actual obit on here, I'd still want a second source.
-
Could be worse, of course. In 3 of the 5 Cups, I've been drawn against Reptile. The current score is me 0, Reptile 3. I've a better win/loss record against Spade ffs...

Competition going by the Book so far!

That wanker Torok () only showed up because he was on the country singer list a few months ago - I missed the addendum that he died years ago. Adams, yeah, was it ever confirmed? A note for now, but she can be axed. I am wary that a few of the names older than Petula Clark could turn out to go "LOL I died years ago".

From a 10 second glance at Google he seems inspired heavily by Dr Zeuss? As an aside, Blake admits inspiration as a child by AE Jackson but even then there's a big jump from those to the familiar Blake characters.

All fear Voodoo Crumbles!

Just stressing how important she was in music history, clearly...

Dead folk taken out, including the one person who actually died in the 1970s. My bad! It now goes up to 1961 (so folk 60+) and I've used your lists and Top of the Pops to expand the 1950s section which was a bit thin on the ground. Not every singer/band here as that'd be a list of half a million living folk. If yer favourites are missing, its a personal slight, of course. Ahem. As the last list missed Sparks, I can't promise there isn't some obvious missing name... - 1917: Art Rupe - 1920: Bill Pitman - 1921: Mary Lee (Scottish singer, celebrated 100th birthday in August 2021, Jack Milroy’s widow) -
