Political Discussions And Ranting Thread

Actually, I would say its a mark against him because its shows he's a hypocrite. Him, Gove, all those types. They enjoyed their time with substances, so they know its a useless policy as you note, yet they continue to enforce it on others, mostly poorer folk. Overdoing the booze and fags is far more dangerous to most people than several of the drugs banned. And the painkillers that are the real big killer are all legal! You could legalise weed for example, tax it heavily, and people would still get it cheaper and safer quality than they do at the moment. But at this point, this is a footnote to a footnote! -
Marion Dawson at church on August 15th. Able to walk with a walking stick! Apparently there's an Isabella Catherine Donald born December 1913, according to the Press and Journal (it's at the bottom of the article as a correction) a few days ago. I was thinking of Agnes Westwood, but apparently she died last year.

I completely forgot about him at the time.

Not a health update (none of his birthday wishes yesterday mention any that I've seen!), but according to social media, John Sissons lives in Cape Town these days? (As well as Kirkup, its 2 of the 3 in South Africa)

The All Coppers Are Bent Bastards Thread!
msc replied to themaninblack's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
First sod to come to mind, what I meant is these guys have a habit of surviving. I don't think him being a cop will hasten a demise any faster - hell, it may seem him protected in solitary or what not and keep him going longer. -

Also they're only telling us the bare minimal as he pleaded guilty so full details never went to public trial. They had to estimate when she died off when he was caught on CCTV going for snacks after killing her, ffs. Absolutely hellish case, even by the number of these sorts of incidents. The complete pre-meditation and planning, as you say, also strikes me as someone who isn't a first time rapist or killer. Alas, I think he'll be fine - Tobin has more mates in prison than he ever did being Bible John and killing all those women and girls. -

From the same illness, I saw Remembrance of the Daleks (and the Mr Bean episode) when Dursley McLinden was still alive, and it was a terrible shock many years later to find he'd died aged only 30 from AIDS in 1995. He seemed like he was going to be a proper acting talent too. There was a tribute to him in It's A Sin (the main character is seemingly loosely based on McLinden), as he and Russell T Davies knew each other. But belatedly finding out things used to happen all the time. I remember reading through the Newspapers "Those We Lost" page one family Christmas get together when I found out that Burgess Meredith (I was a big Batman fan at the time) had died some months previously. -
A quick look at the table - I think that put @Garn2 in the top 3 for the first time in ages. (Poochie's)

I have no issues taking back the Crowdsourced List (its remarkably little time in the year overall) as I slide out of the DDP hosting, but after 2 years of the DDP I am not up to hosting the Deathlist Cup. But surely someone else will step in if its as popular as folk claim.

Not an obit, a hatches, matches and despatches paid announcement. EDEN Richard, professor of energy studies at Cambridge University and a founder of Clare Hall, passed away, aged 99, on Saturday 25th September in Poole Hospital after a very short illness. Funeral to be held on Friday October 8th at 2pm at Harbour View Crematorium, Poole. Lady Mary Anne Denham has died aged 95 apparently, if she's notable.

Played Billy in an episode of The Bill (imaginative character naming there) called Thug on the Tyne. No doubt he was a wrong un and when caught by the regular polis main character, he was heard to say "the thug on the Tyne is all mine, all mine..."

Huh, Mayhew sounded in good nick too!
-
Clearly didn't like him much either... ("Psychic", "saw it coming", let husband catch disease anyway. )
-
I have been wrong before, but if he's still alive on January 1st, Charlton absolutely 100% feels like a DL front page cert, and possibly a Drop 40er.

I didn't remember her Batman role (Polly in a Mad Hatter 2 parter) and it so important it doesn't even get a mention on the Batman Wiki's list of characters for the story!
-
Oh, one of the all time greats managed it too - Roy Orbison (and Bill Dees) with Pretty Woman and It's Over in 1964.
-
Huh, my favourite Pet Shop Boys track was kept off the top spot by Rick Astley! What have I, what have I, what have I done to deserve this?
-
Bruce Welch was songwriter on Bachelor Boy and Summer Holiday alongside Cliff? I was thinking Elvis but his songwriters were all over the place.
-
By comparison, but tbh I was mixing him up with George Cohen in my last post.

Like others I thought Roger Hunt was in good health, but clearly not, as he's dead.

Betty Driver Memorial Soapstar Superstar Thread

The oldies are back in Corrie again, btw. Bill Roache looks and sounds fantastic for his age. Barbara Knox's voice is showing her age but she still looks great for 88. It's Rula Lenska who is sounding a bit aged now, and she's 15 years younger than those two. -
Thanks Willz, now updated. Also the List of the Lost. Also apparently we need a QO for Morris Perry, FAO any passing obituary writers... Incidentally as I've switched on the data section, I can tell you the 7 most read DDP front page obits in September 2021 are: Sarah Harding, Charlie Watts, Robert Fyfe, Michael Constantine (!!), Jimmy Greaves, Clive Sinclair and Gerd Muller. So, folk who show up on the front tracker and the most recent update, who knew! Oh, and the new Archive is apparently ridiculously popular.

Steve "Mongo" McMichael pictured at an award ceremony last weekend, seems to have gone downhill rapidly since March.

Likely to be one of the last updates in this thread before, you know. Big Dave Meltzer in his latest newsletter confirms Jake's COPD has got significantly worse, and he is currently in a wheelchair with a near permanent nasal cannula to aide breathing. He also can't talk for more than 20 seconds without needing oxygen, so can't do TV. He appeared at a Horrorfest convention this week but was very frail.

(Return Of) The Celebrity Split List
msc replied to Cowboy Ronnie's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
Both of Gooseberry's stories in this thread yesterday make it sound like the Bond Girl was rescued from the latest Bond Villain. tbf, Elon Musk is basically a less cool version of Hugo Drax.
