I think I can officially retire my list making days!
-
Given the newspaper source raging is Dickie Arbiter, it's probably the plans from the 1960s...
-
This was him the other week.
-
Bit harsh, he was a fine drummer!
-
And that was a flattering screenshot!
-
All this talk of him being aged now, here's an actual pic from the documentary. I mean, yes, he has aged, and his voice is weaker than it once was, but that's by Parkinson's standards. By someone being 88 86 years old in general, he's not doing too bad...

Sham 69 had one of the all time greatest shameless cash ins, when they released Hurry Up Harry for the 2006 World Cup and changed two lines: subbing the word "England" in for "Harry" in the verse, and changing "we're going down the pub" to "we're gonna win the Cup". Utterly shameless. It sold shitloads!

Probably worth his own thread and a spot on the DL, but Sir Antony Sher, one of Britain's greatest living stage actors (and also a familiar TV/film face), is terminally ill. His partner is taking compassionate leave to look after him (but expects to be back in work in early 2022, so this is going to be fast). Awful news.

I actually quite liked Maranne for decades and even I wouldn't rank him ahead of the Prince!
-
Poor Grim is never going to get the thrill of starting a new hogmanay thread again at this rate!

If the civil service could pick Prime Ministers, well tbh they'd probably do a better job than Boris Johnson by default. Anyhow, a former Eton Provost, just like British horror great M.R. James!
-
Last I heard of him was the time he thwarted a burglar in his 90s a few years back! Good actor though, hopefully he's got a bit left in him yet.
-
Boy Meets World was v popular in the mid 90s. One of the terrestrial channels did show it but I forget which. Knight Rider probably far better known to most people over the age of 40 or so though.

We're not just ghouls. We're helpful ghouls.

Norman Fowler photo, apparently from this week going by Twitter.

Imagine that. "Hey guys, Sidney Poitier died 6 months ago and no one noticed!" I do sometimes go through the names to see if anything interesting has happened, but sod all. Joanne Woodward for example wont get mentioned in the press until she dies.

They say every child surpasses their parents talent in time. Not a high ceiling for Baby Carr here. -
Been a fair few much loved figures going in the last few weeks. Redressing the balance somewhat... Former Scottish rugby international Norman Pender died aged 73 last month. Yes, Wiki hasn't noticed. Nor had I, despite him being on my longlist. His reputation was ruined by the revelation he was a notorious child abuser, and he served 3 years in jail for sexually abusing multiple children. The Daily Record with the somewhat odd anonymous captain obvious talking head! He was also a Lib Dem councillor.

You don't happen to have one hiding in the attic somewhere, do you? -
He's not dead, but watching an interview with former Dalek operator Nick Evans, from 2021. (Evans is one of the many 1960s actors whose imdbs are tiny because sod all of the 1950s/60s British TV shows are on it bar the obvious remembered ones - most of them got wiped and forgotten.) Anyhow, he's a noted gregarious convention regular but while at first glance he looks OK for his age (80s), once he started to speak it was clearly he'd suffered a nasty stroke at some point in the last few years. Struggling to speak, still got bits of the facial paralysis. Still buggering on regardless, but one to watch now.

Note my "these otherwise missing folk would be nice to write about" team is at 0/20 too! "Not too good" Johnny Giles has outlived about 7 million of his teammates too.
-
I'm being truly spoiled with all these household name write ups needed...

Outright cancelled, its not coming back. He just started it, and has been talking up moving to Serbia of late. Here he is 5 days ago: And here is a company involved letting the cat out of the bag: So cancer since 2019 but thought he was OK to tour until 24 hours ago when suddenly everything needed cancelled. I'll be honest, this one feels ominous and Challis is very DL-y.
