An old faithful for me in the ABC pool each year.

I wasn't massively surprised tbh - the Cmme don't really like going for younger picks. The youngest in recent memory I can think of (cue pedants in 5...) is Joost van der Westhuizen who had ALS.

Hang on, is this the Lords or the Commons? Also, as a comic once put it "Love don't buy you money!" -
Political Discussions And Ranting Thread

I do actually think there's a place for a House of Lords used properly - you know, experts in their field as some checks and balances to incompetent governments, like the best retired judges in the country being advisors on proposed legal changes for example. But of course its just used to pump as many cronies into one place to push through your legislation (both parties do this when in power) which makes it pointless. As for an honour, I wouldn't pay to receive one but I would easily take lots and lots of money to accept one. -
Like the Queen, he thinks the last person to abdicate the job was a right old cunt!

You can see the punchline coming here. Apparently some papers would like to run an obit for him but thanks to the pandemic, their budgets are severely reduced. That's right....wait for it... money's too tight to mention.

Foreign Personalities, From Stage, Screen, Politics And Life

Hah yes, same. Ditto Etushi with the Russian names. -
Ok, someone who doesn't have their own thread and should, not only on notability but also on health. John Hume, Nobel Prize winner, was a leading Northern Irish politician (leader of the SDLP) and a key figure in the Good Friday Peace Agreement. He is also seriously ill now, having been diagnosed with dementia a number of years ago. He was able to get out and about to funerals and the like as recently as 2 years ago, but the first public seeds of his health really going downhill appeared when his wife had to make a statement on the death of Martin McGuinness earlier this year instead. Now, he is unable to attend screenings of films in his own honour. One to watch intently, and with a good deal of name relevance for updates, I give you this thread for 2 reasons. 1. He is an exceptionally Deathlist worthy name, and one whose health should be watched. And politicos/journos give a steady update on him being "badly ill", "if only he could see X" etc etc. 2. I stumble across health updates on him at least six times a year, and lose track of where to place them because updates on the man are in about 10 different threads now. So he gets his own. ...I'm going too guess there's a Peter Falk joke in 5...

She's dead. Shimmer have just posted it on Facebook via her family. Obits will follow. Sad news.

tbf half the posters on here are more DL worthy than Dai Llewellyn. But yes, Martti qualifies for sure.

Sad but not unexpected - Daffney, who was genuinely widely loved among her fellow wrestlers, suffered a horrific head injury in a match in TNA with an untrained wrestler (so horrific she won an unsafe working environment lawsuit, in pro-wrestling) and her mood/interactions completely changed ie probable permanent brain damage ala Michael Hutchence. Apparently the apartment manager guy was refusing cops access to her flat due to "rights". Given she turned her phone off and wasn't in the apartment many of her friends expected (so the police had to track her down with help of her family), this isn't a Michael Elgin cry for help situation so hopefully there's not the expected ending when announced.

I feel bad for the animal, ,because I'm me and it didn't choose to be taken to the UK, but I mean, the farmers who lose cattle as soon as bovine TB shows up (and hell, the working class farm workers whose pay suffers as a result) don't get half the sob stories one furry animal did.

Relapsed pancreatic cancer for the 3rd (or 4th) time. I can't decide if he's really unlucky or lucky, the latter because most people who suffer a relapse with that are long gone.

In fairness, I think if we had a straw poll on the forum for folk living for a while yet, Ed Asner would have been near top of the list. Sometimes people just die. There's a motto for life!
-
tbf to Biblio, my actually breaking news on a genuine A lister dying is a shock to me too. Shame though, Asner was always good value, even in the last decade in US TV shows.

Dead aged 91. Legit a bit surprised at this.

Note I gave her birth name and the alleged place and date of her death so folk who can search the 2021 GRO when it updates can confirm fairly quickly. Well, I would have if not for the typo, err! It's Vera ANNA Fusek.
-
Austin and Howard Mutti-Mewse (celeb trackers who wrote a book or two) claim Vera Ann Fusek died 8th August 2021 in Suffolk.

It's here: The Beautiful South | full Official Chart History | Official Charts Company Think you've got gremlins in the works, old chap.

Ah that explains my "how is someone quoting me in the porn thread?" confusion!

1989 list... hits of 35 years ago... feck! Yeah I remember the band too but their 90s stuff, not the last few years with this guy.

His other line about Jaws IV is opening the script, reading "Scene 1, Bahamas (on location)" and saying he'd do it instantly without reading the rest! Basically...yes. Well, used to watch it. But it used to be average Joes and their kids discussing the weeks TV, like Melvyn Bragg but less pretentious. So useful if you are busy and missed some decent shows that got raved about. After a year or two it turned into people who now knew they were "famous" performing for the camera and lost its appeal. For me, anyhow. For the general public it just got more and more popular.
