Which is odd, as folk were so grim about Ewing's health around the 2015 election I'd have given her 6 weeks then, not 6 years and counting!

Sweden 1-0 Slovakia Croatia 1-1 Czech Republic England 5-0 Scotland meh Hungary 0-1 France Portugal 1-0 Germany Spain 1-0 Poland err... I've just given the Czechs a goal so this wasn't almost identical to En Passant...

It's been unofficially known for a while that he's no a well man, but now they've made it official, we can unfortunately add the great Bertie Auld to the list of footballers with dementia.

I assumed, and wasn't corrected, that it was restricted to named recipients. So... 1960: Vance Trimble, Scripps-Howard Newspaper Alliance, "for a series of articles exposing the extent of nepotism in the Congress of the United States." was OK as its specifically a Pulitzer for Trimble. But... 1983: Boston Globe, "for its balanced and informative special report on the nuclear arms race." Some guy who worked for the Boston Globe in 1983 and had cancer wasn't allowed. No named recipients here, just the paper itself But I could be wrong?

Is that an attempt to tag Paul or a reference to Paul Hardcastle's 19? Basically, when Scotland actually qualified they went nuts, and the song playing on the locker room at that moment was Baccara. And of course, football fans, Scots and the internet can turn anything into a meme... Thank god they weren't listening to Barry Manilow! Or Rolf!

Odd for any of my "just pick the oldest guy" attempts to actually work in this game.

Ukraine 2-1 N Macedonia Denmark 2-1 Belgium Netherlands 1-2 Austria The last one was a typo but fuck it, let's go with it anyway...

Luckily they are only playing (checks) the number 1 ranked team in the world who last lost in 2018. Easy.

My tip for dark horses was Denmark, which tbf looked a good tip for 40 mins until their captain went into cardiac fucking arrest!

Only 5 of the male grandslam winners since 1960 have died, yes. But that's still almost entirely sports men aged under 85. The fatal 5 Vitas Gerulaitis died aged 40 in a tragic carbon monoxide poisoning due to a faulty chimney in a house he was a guest in. Arthur Ashe died of AIDS aged 49 due to a blood transfusion fuckup. Andres Gimeno died in 2019 aged 82 after being ill for a long time. Rafael Osuna was killed aged 30 in a plane crash. Chuck McKinley died aged 45 of brain cancer. Tennis is meant to add years to your life (there is no cure for accidents or plane crashes) but it's 80s+, so Ullrich is still at the higher end of tennis longevity.

Steve Miller would fit what with his famous song Abracadabra. Hang on a minute...

Lisa Banes was in Star Trek but to be fair, so were 10 million other actresses in their 60s who didn't get hit by a car a week after deadline so that one is rather understandable! The Trek category will probably see the most misses in Scavenger history.

Between work, the Euros, vaccines, etc you may need to remind me circa the 28th June about this pool so I don't forget...

50s/60s tennis journeyman Torben Ulrich, who once made it to the 4th round of Wimbledon, is still with us aged 92. Has a more than decent obit chance for someone of his position in the game (world 96th) as his son is Lars Ulrich, Metallica co-founder and drummer.

Typical Gazza day, falling into a lake while fishing. He got out again, this is light-hearted by usual Gazza story standards tbh.

tbh I've enjoyed most of the games, except Lyndon Dykes pretending to be a footballer and that siesta Spain put us through. Oh and Christian Eriksen nearly dying of course. Feels like a step up from the last Euros. Also, I've missed hearing thousands of fans in a stadium all booing a referee!

Hungary 1-1 Portugal France 4-0 Germany (look away Reptile!)

Yes, I always take Chilean likes as "thank you for the information", tbh.
