There's some good picks still on your team - anyone heard anything of that Ranier chap lately?
-
I'd legit forgot about that one.

Latham did get a QO in the end. And a lovely DDP obit too... Most List of the Losts? Mercate's cardinals team or that South Korean theme team from a few years ago, off the top of my head. My successor? Is chosen, and shall be revealed in the 3rd quarter of 2020 (ie circa July!) - they have unanimous backing from the Cmme, and will run this bit of the show better than I do.

Appears to be a scan up of names in the hatches/dispatches section (which are paid notices?). He's an MP. When was the last MP not to get a QO? First of Never, 1820-something?

Yeah you said you like snooker yesterday, my sleep patterns fucked. Anyhow, moaning millionaires wanting to fuck off with more money - same old story it ever was with everything.

The money men who own 99% of the money involved are throwing a hissy fit they don't have enough of the money. Essentially. (I could mention the meritocracy v American business profit wankers bit but I took you at your non-sports interested self and went as succinct as possible!)

iirc either Willz or Ulitzer pointed out he had been announced as ill some point in the last two years.

On that note, do you know who was actually a huge favourite among BBC producers and the like? Mary Whitehouse. Because anytime she moaned about a show or play or book, the sales/audience would increase massively overnight. Billy Connolly used to say the same, that Pastor Jack Glass's continued denouncing of him was the best publicity Connolly could have hoped for! The Life of Brian TV debate was quite amusing as it remains one of the only times I've seen evidence of Michael Palin losing his shit over something. That man is notoriously nice - imagine successfully pissing him off! Life Of Brian 1979 Debate - complete - YouTube

It nearly wasn't made at the time! Money folk pulled out of the film (due to religious pressure) and it was only the help of George Harrison's money that got it finished.

British mountaineer Sir Chris Bonington has shown up on Sky News talking about his mate Philip (the Prince). Looking aged but quite well - but is 87 this summer so will start to be on more of our radars before long.

Yeah Phantom is for music sources what OoO is for motor-racing.

Can I just put, for the record, I am confused by the sudden influx of sumo wrestlers (actual sport) and Olympic amateur wrestlers (actual sport) into the pro-wrestling thread?

Had me going to imdb to check if Julian Glover had added Harry Potter to his collection (only name actor to appear in Bond, Star Wars, Star Trek, Dr Who, The Avengers and Game of Thrones) and yep, he was the voice of the giant spider in the second film. Mind you, as he turned 86 a few weeks ago, he might not count as being in his prime anymore, though apparently he's still acting. Which is cool.

Helen McCrory has died of cancer aged 52. Actress in everything - Skyfall, Harry Potter films, Quiz, Dark Materials, The Queen, Penny Dreadful etc etc. That's a shock! Helen McCrory dead - Peaky Blinders and James Bond star dies aged 52 - Mirror Online

One story I quite like was that the first time the Queen took Philip to Balmoral to meet everyone there, he was in the full kilt get up when the King (George VI) appeared in the room, and Philip, being Philip, decided to curtsy the King. Cue outraged courtiers but apparently George VI thought it was hilarious.

Directed a bunch of game shows (Pointless for example) and the ITV tribute documentaries to folk, and the 1993 Children in Need Doctor Who/Eastenders crossover Dimensions in Time.

Had to google it as I'd forgotten the name. Finding Alice, apparently. Finding Alice - Wikipedia

I've found quite a lot of modern TV has a weak first series. Might be just me? Even people trying to get me into stuff will often go "the first series is bad but once you get past that..." Breaking Bad was a bit rubbish though, imo. It had its moments, but about 5 great episodes in 64 isn't really worth holding out for. tbh I struggle with a lot of modern TV. About 99% (at least) of ITV dramas I've seen have been fucking awful. Like that recent one where the dad fell down the stairs in the new house. Or the one where Sarah Lancashire had to mope at the camera for 4 years because her daughter trespassed on derelict property which then exploded. (I just google it and apparently that was Channel 4? So their stuff too, then.)

@Grim Up North @Toast I thought the lead in The Good Place was annoying too, but the show picked up steam after a season or so. Ted Danson clearly enjoys himself a lot in it. Anyhow, I do know who Jamil is as a result and she's quite good in it. Didn't know the other two until it was mentioned.

The World of the Snowflake
msc replied to Lord Fellatio Nelson's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
(Hey, I missed TOTP repeats and I wont see them till... Friday. ) After Diana, there was a BBC inquiry into how to cover something like this and they decided that interrupting programming to announce, then focusing on that on one of the major channels that day was the best way forward. Which iirc is what they did for the Queen Mum. However, since then, the Beeb have been getting in the neck from their pay masters (ie the government), especially in recent years, for not being patriotic* enough and so we got what happened - basically, it wasn't about respect, or mourning, it was a bit of virtue signalling to the Tory backbenchers. (Which in the end is pointless imo because that lot would want rid of the Beeb if it became the 24/7 Brexit is amazing with some Archers channels!) (Also note the top two at the Beeb are now the former boss of Rishi Sunak and Tory fundraiser, and a friend of Dominic Cummings, so watch for more government friendly shifts in the future...) (You don't want to get me started on governments deliberately confusing patriotism with "agreeing with them" as this lot do all the fucking time...) -
One of my favourite Spitting Image sketches was David Owen forming The David Owen Party, and then splitting from it.

Pretty much a huge political figure in general, I'd say. Her autobiography is a good read. Too early to say The Gang of Four are dying in the wrong order?

Their mum died when they were young (Jeff was 8 at the time) and Gilbert became a full time single parent and worked to raise both kids, then he took them to wrestling training, helped get them their breaks, and wound up looking after both after rehab stays at one point.

Been busy. Is someone on the list on the way out? Or gut feeling?
