He was still tweeting a week ago!

Nice idea, but the snag is that its UK Yahoo News we brought back, not MSN UK. Sorry.

Jake the Snake watch, Dynamite (28/01/2021) - he was on AEW Dynamite but the ref did the old "send the interfering manager backstage" bit within seconds to limit his on-screen time. He was quite red in the face (more so than last month) and looked out of breath from just standing. He showed up 3 weeks ago and he looked like he had put on weight due to medicine. He's clearly ailing but struggling along, and they haven't given him speaking time since the COPD announcement. Reminds me of when Gorilla Monsoon was ailing/dying and the WWE kept giving him small spots here and there so he'd still be involved in the show... Anyhow, as we should get regular sight reports, more in 2-3 weeks time unless the Reaper intervenes...

Yeah, the rest of January (after the site goes up) is usually a rush to complete real life work that was put to the side in the first half of the month. Front page obits shall resume this weekend. I aimed to work on them last weekend but i felt horrendously unwell so watched The Wheel instead. Yes, Michael McIntyre, that's quite unwell!

Blimey, I legit thought she was going to see 100.

Give Ulitzer the internet and a few hours and he could find Jimmy Hoffa for you!

Nice. Oh that'd be just my luck - get the covid vaccine, immediately die from an allergic reaction to flowers!
-
Nobody picked Vic Seixas this year so he is probably fecked! David de Keyser, Laurie Johnson, Monty Norman all strike as potential misses too. As TMIB once put, we only pick 3000 of them a year... Although I do see Toast picked DG Hessayon who came up in forum conversation last year!

I couldn't get one to embed the other day either.

tbh this makes my policy of just getting the machine to tape the interesting bands for later and then fast forwarding all the pre-gig chat even wiser imo.

One of those CVs people will know her from something ie Mrs msc there. Butch Cassidy? No. Young Frankenstein? Loves the film, couldn't mind her. The grandma in Malcolm in the Middle? "Oh, her!" Also in It's A Good Life, which many folk consider the greatest episode of the Twilight Zone. (I mean, I think its The Obsolete Man with Burgess Meredith, but Bill Mumy's great too!)

I get to be the out of touch person for once - I'd never heard of her, or if I had she didn't linger long in the mind! (I've Googled her, I know shes a radio DJ, still none the wiser!)

That's a shame. Quite a promising DDP player in recent years...

The trailers had a tsunami consuming the Himalayas which freaked out folk I knew even if it was bad CGI. The film though. For those who haven't seen it, there's a bit when Yellowstone Park volcano errupts, but the main characters are able to outrun pyroclastic flow in a tiny little plane which only stops fueling as the park explodes. And one guy outruns the explosion to jump on the plane as it takes off!

Bit of a blast from the past for some of us - Hobbit and Xena actor Peter Vere-Jones has now died aged 82.

The legend Lovelock has his own thread, @Bibliogryphon. I'll fight anyone who says the Gaia theorist, the guy who said global warming was going to be a thing before everyone (bar LFN of course) was even born, doesn't deserve his own thread. And by fight, I mean "passive aggressively post a face palm emoticon reaction on their post" of course.

He's the co-discoverer of DNA so a pretty big name in science, but yeah, the OP should have, you know, not assumed folk just know that.

If Grayling became an undertaker, people would stop dying.

Aww man, Columbo legend! DDP pick as well, as you can see from his description on site I was a bit surprised to find out he was still alive!

It happens. Even the most ardent researcher - I mean this in the academic term, not just the deadpoolers parlais - can come unstuck from time to time with inccurate source materials. For the opposite, look at how often folk still ask if Andre Maranne is still alive thanks to inaccurate Chinese whispers printed as fact online about 20 years ago, and then repeated.

This is quite simply one of the biggest, worst and embarassing misses in years.... for me! I knew he was fucked when I saw him on TV in October. Didn't pick him at all - and Drop 40 to boot.

Actually I was just thinking its the style of film Werner Herzog would do pretty well and then I remembered the somewhat batshit Incident at Loch Ness, a deeply odd film I highly recommend. A documentary film crew follow Herzog's film crew as he researchs at Loch Ness for a film about the monster. And then (film spoiler below)...

Embezzlement, money issues, deaths - the whole caboodle. There's a documentary about the tortured making of the film, and the actual film itself (finished as best as possible without Orson) on Netflix. It's an interesting idea - if you've ever seen Symbiopsychotaxiplasm (yes it's a real film and yes I had to google the bloody name) it's a similar sort of idea of a mockumentary crew following a "real life" acclaimed nutter director in action.

Worth putting in here imo. Jack Rollin, former football writer for the Sunday Telegraph and editor/writer of pretty much the entire annual series of Rothmans Football Yearbook, has died.Wont be the only person to have referenced dozens of those pre-widespread Wiki/Google days.
