Sounds like the hole that magician found himself down in 2016?

He's Pa Broon in the post above!

Never heard of her! This felt like a challenge but is surprisingly difficult: most contenders (Dewar, Galbraith, Cook to pick 3) are long dead. There was some reasonably decent local MPs that dont fit the bill, far more nonentities (John Robertson was an MP for 15 years in Glasgow and I couldnt pick him out of a crowd), and more than one complete and utter cunt. And the associated bit presumably DQs folk who left the party like Denis Canavan and Jim Sillars, and the long since retired (and admittedly marmite but solid political figures none the less) like Pa Broon and Gavin Strang. And I think that's covered all of them. I'm stumped, there's no one left.

Tom Smith to fuck off the DDP Cmme...
-
Yeah, especially since she got the Sun gig *before* the cancer. (She also had a number of here, there and everywhere gigs ala Simon Ricketts but like Ricketts they've mostly disappeared from the internet by now...)

January 2021.

I think it's been pretty good tbh with you...

Well done DL. 18! I never thought I'd see the day back in the grim days of the 2010 and 2011 lists! Amusing that the record goes with the death of one of the duller people still living on it too imo.

You know the WWE were banned from an arena a church ran in 1998 because they got told not to swear, and Mick Foley - the only person not warned about this - swore. My last post feels a bit like not warning Mick Foley about swearing right about now! It wasn't however that one name, so phew!

I mean if its a name for one of the Crumble teams I'm about 90% sure they'll be OK but sure. (Also, slightly worried this is the last unnamed person on my shortlist! ) PS Obviously I have no say in anyone else picking the name of course.

She seems decent but isn't given stuff that plays to her strengths. The main writer - Chris Chibnall - is one of the worst on TV (he also did Broadchurch which was horribly written too). Subtle as a sledgehammer to the nuts.

The sad thing is, I can't even argue this. It was.

Its a facetious reference to Varadkar. In short it means if your campaigning has become so renowned you are referred to worldwide - Phelan for example was on CNN in 2018. But folk like that are incredible rare. I suppose a 2021 example is Ady Barkan who has noterity internationally now for his campaigning (aided by Biden support). Whereas Stand up 2 Cancer campaigner Cameron Patel was only really known around Leicester. And is dead, which is another bad reason to pick them.

Aye, just cut out the bit where I said it wasnt Geldofs fault... (Although tbf, those specific lawyers at the time were playing hardball over Hutchence getting to see Tiger Lily, his own daughter. But that somewhat detracts from the point that Geldof himself wasn't to blame...)

2020: covid, covid everywhere, more covid, not seeing family, worst work year ever due to covid, government helping everyone else then sending out emails and texts about their financial support that wasn't available to gig economy folk on a weekly basis, covid, UK government being a shower of feckless cunts at every opportunity, covid. Also coronavirus. Old pal dying of covid within 2 days of getting it, aged 40, by far biggest shock of year. On a celeb note, Shad Gaspard. Poor sod. Don't know the Google thing but my annual video is focusing on Diana Rigg and Ian Holm too.

Yeah. Although there is the train of thought that Geldof's lawyers were the final nail in the coffin for Michael Hutchence and his death was the nail in the coffin for Paula, but that theory comes from people who think Geldof is a gobshite. And despite agreeing that Geldof IS a gobshite, and that Yates likely went into a spiral over Hutchence's death... if you look at the brain injury he suffered in Holland a few years previously, Hutchence was always going to die relatively young, likely by his own hand. If it wasn't that fight with the lawyers that triggered end game, something else before long would have.

The lady you mention is a 20 something care worker and so not a DDP pick, just unfortunate. Captain Sir Tom wouldn't surprise me if he made the Drop 40 tbh. The cut off was 32 teams this year.

I don't see the emails this side of Jan 1st, but I'll be submitting my team on Boxing Day, same as last year. And a copy will go to Willz in case someone complains their unique hopes were actually widely viewable on Google 3 months previously!

What a hideously tragic story. But no, they wouldn't count as they seemed to be known only for being ill.
-
Who is famous solely for being mentally ill?
-
Thanks, and a thank too to Ulitzer who apparently posted it a few weeks ago but I'd have missed it without both of you.

That beats last years attempt to enter Ayn Rand into the competition. One of Sir Creep's "Ivan" theme team was a Soviet diplomat who actually died in 1948 ie before Stalin. But the record is the pick in 1999, whose name is lost now, disallowed because they died in 1878! Sympathetic thinkers think it was Anna Sewell, Handrejka made a good argument for it being Asa Biggs (19th century politician and typo of then living historian Asa Briggs) - unsympathetic co-hosts want it to be someone like Pope Pius IX!

Brian Kerr, Lord Kerr of Tonaghmore, until September one of the longest held members of the UK Supreme Court and former Chief Justice of N Ireland, dead aged 72. Didn't even know he'd stood down suddenly, which is a warning sign for a workaholic...
