    World War II Veterans

Rest of committee had assumed I meant pages like this when I said all subsections of BBC news, so, yes, the Last Word page ( note the death has to be written down) counts. It's different from the long running BBC Music pages debate as those are taken off Wiki whereas this is written by the production staff. Another loophole that needs spelt out in the rules!

    World War II Veterans

Last Word doesn't because "The notice of death must be in written English. Video links are only accepted if the strapline mentions the celeb’s passing." However, each Last Word episode has this page. Which is a straight up mention of death in a QO. Rules: bbc.co.uk/news (and all subsections, including the previously banned local news pages) Does "ALL subsections" include pages for BBC News Programmes on the programmes section like this? I've just assumed no, but let's see what the forum thinks... The closest we've come to testing this rule was Cynthia Heimel's death, but the blurb didn't mention she was getting a tribute on that particular news broadcast... (Hang on, he's not a DDP pick, but I guess that's another unsorted loophole...)

    Peter Sutcliffe

True story. The night he killed that Polish lass in Glasgow (the murder that he finally got caught for), we were in a pub 500 yards away. Bit of a "holy shit" moment when everyone realised later on.

    Peter Sutcliffe

Christ, I think I'd prefer Sutcliffe dropping in over that!

Looking forward to Bible John biting the dust. The sod keeps pretending he's about to snuff it...

Correct me if I'm wrong but that segment was written/co-written by "Friend of the Forum" David "Davey" Quantick too, no?

    20. Yoko Ono

I mean, there's a solid chapter in defence of Yoko in that book about Beatles myths, but Walking on Thin Ice actually made the top 40 in 1981! Probably because it sounds like a reaction to Lennons death, even though it was recorded a very short time (days even) before he got shot. OK, thats not my living memory, but you know what I mean.

The only Bill Russell I know is William the great TV actor. Never heard of Jenny Craig either. And I've heard of all kinds of random sods.

^^ Poor Spade. A Scott Thorson gambit really has no staying power on DL in 2020...

    Political Frailty

Ken Clarke made a not so common nowadays TV appearance last night on Robert Peston's show. For an 80 year old boozehound who has had periods of ill health in the last few years, he looked and sounded in fine fettle.

I know it's become part of the DL forum shorthand dictionary, but it never fails to make me laugh when I see people use the terms "skills" and "research" to mean "google dying celebs once a month".

No unexpected surge for Walking on Thin Ice? (tbh that's the only one I can name without looking!)

She's not a well woman these days at all, to the point I thought this might be the death notice when you posted there.

My 5 picks for example. 1. Big name TV star of yesteryear. 2. A lister, had a reputation as being a dog but generally highly respected nowadays. 3. Never off TV when I was a kid, still writes regularly. Not a fan. 4. Massive actor, figuratively and literally. 5. One of the most famous music acts in the world. You could easily name 4 or 5 of their hits without googling.

My tactic for the game was to pick people so obviously famous TQR would just go "Oh aye, them" rather than "hmm, how many Facebook followers?" Which sucks for old writers but thems the rules. Diana Rigg would have failed to qualify for this due to her whole nearly dying in 2017 lark. Of course she doesn't qualify now for the whole actually dying lark. @The Quim Reaper welcome to the fun of deadpool hosting. PS Ted Turner has had Lewy Body Dementia for at least 2 1/2 years so wouldn't count...

Now fondly known on the forum as The Tennessee None! This is just incredible work, Ulitzer - in fact so much so, I can see it being useful as a quick guide for some real life work. Much respect!

Who is the best official James Bond?

Wipeout seems closest but it started in 1998 which is far too late. Although a trip through imdb brings up GagTag which I have vague memories of. UKGameshow calls it "not original and just not funny". imdb also claims Monkhouse first appeared on Noel's House Party in 1994 and we knew who he was by then. Lots of random snippets of memories of forgotten 90s gameshows in the mind, like Dermot Morgan's England v Scotland, Lose a Million (which seemed like the easiest gameshow ever tbh), Small Talk, etc.

Who is the best official James Bond?

And this is bad because? Arguably there's a long running arc from OHMSS to Licence to Kill, but with 4 actors. I've often thought OHMSS would have worked better with Roger Moore instead of George Lazenby, especially as the death of Tracy Bond is a recurring trauma throughout the Moore era. Dalton ends it in Licence to Kill by getting the revenge for Felix he was never able to fully achieve for himself. Doctor Who: Jon Pertwee (shitloads of BBC repeats from 1990-5) Kids TV - Tony Hart Playdays/bus/school - Dave Benson Philips (who went on to do Get Your Own Back) Generation Game - Bruce Forsyth* TV personality in general: Terry Wogan Best "doesn't fit into any of the above": Shadow off Gladiators. Watching him smash scrubs on Duel was always fun. Then he got sacked for drugs. Showing up my early 90s TV landscape here. *I was going to say Bob Monkhouse here, but Wiki says he never hosted it? I have strong memories of Monkhouse hosting a BBC gameshow in the early 90s but can't find evidence of it online...Around the time Jim Davidson hosted Big Break.
