  1. Tbf the American system is completely crap. Look at the last few election cycles. One party gets the Presidency, the voters immediately for the opposition to take control of the Senate/House or vice versa. To be blunt, the American voters time and time again vote for gridlock so that nothing will change, and then moan about why nobody ever changes anything.

    Jake "the Snake" Roberts

Others from a Wiki search: Dan McCafferty from Nazareth. Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson. who we knew, and more obscure: Christopher Ayres (voice actor, voice of Freiza in the English language Dragonball Z) Peter Perrett from The Only Ones

Died peacefully at home after remaining active till nearly the end. These things happen. Bloody good actor though. Beyond the usual suspect comedies (and no doubt Willz has mentioned his Doctor Whos) Hot Metal was a fun but forgotten 80s sitcom, with him and Robert Hardy.

    Each Year's Most Significant Death.

Basketball does have more fans worldwide than the NFL (mostly thanks to China which loves itself some basketball) but it's still a drop in the ocean next to football. That said, when Bryant died Twitter crashed on 3 or 4 continents which was quite impressive. Despite not having seen him in anything, I do get folk who say it was Chadwick Boseman, tbh. Young actor, rapidly gaining millions of fans and a strong reputation in his field, just starred in one of the biggest grossing films of all time, and suddenly he's dead to a cancer most of those fans (most of them young kids too) didn't even know about. But then the significance debate will never be sorted here. Arguably Qaboos of Oman was one of the most significant deaths since he'd done so much to keep the Middle East from self-destructing but he wasn't exactly a household name in the UK! In the end you can only answer these things from a personal reply, which is why to me the most significant celeb death of the year was Diana Rigg. With Derek Fowlds, Clive Cussler and good old Terry Jones as close contenders.

He is. He abused the child star of one of his films and went to jail. Came out, went right back into films and made Jeepers Creepers.

    Michael J Fox

This surgery was due to non-malignant cancer. He also suffered a bad fall last year. This information stems from a new interview with People Magazine in which he reveals his short term memory is now fucked.
  10. My only comment - I think at least one of Eastwood and Hackman will be on the 2021 list. Maybe both.

Was about to mention the Curse of DL as you mentioned him the other day... Only, according to the search, that post was actually in 2018.

Fry's lost a lot of weight in the last few years or so, exercise/diet kick - last I heard he actually weighed less than me nowadays.

Yeah he looks worse than my grandad did on his own death bed.
  14. @YoungWillz and @Bibliogryphon the NY Times election mascot looks a bit familiar, no?

tbh Terry's one of the GOAT in my book but that could have described any of his promos since about 1990...

    Hello

Btw apologies up front but I'm not putting spoiler tags on a book thats 180 years old now. (Next up, better not tell folk what happens to that Jesus guy in the Bible! ) But, while Dickens is a pretty damn goood writer - especially when he wasn't being paid by the syllable - the death of Little Nell is some of the most preposterous melodrama ever written. And yet there's contemporary newspaper reports of folk waiting for the latest installment published, like the 1840s equivalent of their Eastenders fix, and bawling their eyes out over her. I'm with Oscar Wilde - "It'd take a heart of stone not to laugh at the death of Little Nell"! That said, I'm of the view the best Dickens adaptation ever had Michael Caine and muppets in it, so what do I know?
  19. Much love and respect from me as always, DI. Now here's to more knowhow of yesteryear celebs! And I haven't discovered a scenario yet in which black humour doesn't help the personal mood.

    Deathlist Dreaming

Yes, I used to get it frequently but not so much now. The overly dramatic syndrome name wasn't much of a relief. There's also the one where you go to sleep "too quickly" for your brain's liking, so it orders a sudden burst of adrenaline to the heart just to check yer not dying. Never ceases to make me jump a fucking mile. There's a sciency name for it but I forget it.

Thoughts and Opinions on the 2020 List

Tbf Joey has been consistent on the Edrich pick (over better former pick options like Jill Gascoine) since January 1st. Mostly because John "beat cancer 10 years ago, only 82 years old" Edrich is a dull and rubbish pick. It's their list, they can pick who they want. "Fans" (for lack of a better term for why this forum exists) have the right to bitch and moan about it all they want, and be frustrated by former DL names dying off the list. Now everyone calm by remembering the time they had to axe the following line for Sean Connery in Red October (remember his lisp here): "What a beautiful site!"

    Bobby Charlton

Yeah, I think him and Babs will be the next "big dementia names" they wind up picking.
