Joey's team isn't a Poker Team, it's a to do list for Gooseberry...
-
Ah, I'm afraid I lost track of Maggie Fitzgibbon (as there was a fortnight delay between death and obit). I shall aim to mention here at next update (and can usually count on young Joey to pointout folk I forgot!). Your theme team did get mentioned when Ronan O'Rahilly died as he was a unique pick.

Whilst I have no negative health news to report I note that Jack Higgins books are fucking awesome.
-
According to folk on twitter, neither her or Rossalyn can travel now due to age and health problems. Which I agree is a big red flag on Jimmy's health (as he and Lewis were very close) and a reminder that former First Lady Ros Carter ought to go on the 2021 DL.

Having net issues but that one will be everywhere by the morning if true. Very respected name in TV.
-
It'll come this week at some point. But you got 2 mentions on the front page this year already! One during the Nicholas Parsons write up ("Nicholas Bloody Parsons (Mr Jolly reference) was picked by 17 teams, including veterans Lard Bazaar and Dave’s Dead Aye Dead Drunk.") and in the Terry Jones one ("and 14th year in the DDP regular Lard Bazaar! Well done.") Bah, nobody reads the fucking things.

Hah, yes, although I was thinking more of the likes of Kerslake and Trebek who at least have some notability, and not the folk who are in danger of having their bus tickets removed...
-
Some will live into 2021 and become Drop 40 again, some will die before then. I am roughly in agreement with Reptile on who but these things often surprise in the exact moment. Which is why we keep coming back to the DDP. No matter how good folk become at scouring Google or reading up on cancer stats, no two DDP picks are identical. That's why this year there's more cancer picks than you can fit on a bus, and yet a crucial talking point for the rest of the year is if Jimmy Carter continues to live or not.

Well that's me too late for the obligatory "Than who? LFN?" quip.

Must be some error, Gooseberry, that's someone I've heard of! -

Life lesson here - don't go to Danny Dyer for advice on naming things! -
Arrowsmith was still giving interviews last year iirc, she's on one of my DDP teams. One of those fascinating but slightly nutty figures who ought to be a DDP hit one day.

I predict the grim reaper is going to be 'like a super strong enema 'in 2020

Tbh I was thinking more Carter, Philip or Benny, but the 2016 big deaths weren't exactly called ahead of time. If we all knew George Michael was going to snuff it, it wouldn't have quite so big a gut punch to so many people at the time. Music wise, for iconic it'd have to be Macca, Jagger, Sir Elton - some huge Bowie/Prince type figure. Maybe Ozzy. Hopefully not Ozzy though. I mean, I hadn't heard of her either, but top marks for calling bloody Strictly trash TV! -
tbf if someone got severe covid I presume they have a bit of scared heart too...

Aga Khan vs the 4 folk left live from We Didn't Start The Fire to be some sod's new poll thread imminently, no doubt.

The way I look at it is "if they were 20 years younger and announced hospice care tomorrow, would they make the list?". And from that, James Lovelock, Clarissa Eden, June Spencer off the Archers, and maybe Beverly Cleary at a push (I've got her kids books, she's a mega star next to Bill Gates's dad, but she was far more famous in the US), Beat poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti or cult TV actor Nehemiah Persoff might make it. But that's 3 names off the dozens we see mentioned on here on a regular basis, and maybe 6 if I'm being charitable. Because fuck knows after Bill Gates dad. Boris Pahor, Renee Simonot, Norman Lloyd, Benjamin Ferencz, Hal Singer etc are notable but feels more of a chin stroking Guardian/Telegraph obit pick that is always welcome on the DDP than DL names. I think most of us think the Cmme will jump on Sir Captain Tom Moore given half the chance (ooer), and from the notable ancient but not 100 yet squad Aaron Beck (creator of CBT therapy), Glynis Johns and astronaut Chuck Yeager strike me as having DL potential, but I think they'll start looking at that mass of names in the 1928-31 period soon instead of picking up B listers still standing from the 1910-22 period. IMO.

Some people are on the pitch...

The SFA or whoever it is who voted not to relegate them. (PS One of the eight guys who voted on that is owner of Brechin City!)
-
Aye, well they earned their relegation. Nah, I always thought Thistle would go down this year due to being a bit shite, but there's earning being relegated and there's going down early because the other shite team (QOTS) played an extra game while you were involved in the Cup. Brechin got off scot free n all.
-
Fuck off! PS Best wishes and all that.

Well on current form everyone else related to 1966 seemingly has to watch out first! I don't predict enemas or what not, but I do feel the big headline death this year will be remembered for (ie Bowie in 2016, Bush Sr in 2018) hasn't happened yet. The Biology textbook that claimed an octopus has "eight testicles" was the gold standard here. -
Feel like Eva Marie Saint, providing she's still breathing in 2021, is due a call up for the DL first 50...
-
Saw this about a year ago. I agree, its a very good film.

August 30th. You'll see.

Feel this is the year of the A listers going so gone for Jimmy Carter.
