Actually I stand corrected. You can run all of those names through the death certificates and all of them are dead except the one born in 1937. Of course, Scotlands People doesn't have every certificates (some uncles of mine have fallen down the back of their sofa) but...well, there's something of note.

I think they are claiming the 1937 date here but I have a reasonable doubt (I am open to being disproved) as that birth was in Tillicoultry which is a town 4 miles north of Alloa. Fyfe himself in the past has specifically said he was born in Alloa and you'd expect a proud Scot to know the difference. Given at least two of his roles are casting jokes based on Fyfe being too old to play the part (the significant age gap between Marina and Howard, him playing a 70 year old in Corrie) I'd be surprised if one of those 1920s dates wasn't him after all. No doubt we'll find out in the Times/Telegraph obit one day.

Yes, I think that's her. Poor woman. She earns that team as many points now as she probably will in 2021 ie none. Not to give away likely Committee decisions ahead of their announcement, of course...

Theme tune for tomorrow:

On a Thursday night during a lockdown, William Shakespeare wrote Hamlet. On a Thursday night during a lockdown, I drank Jack Daniels and looked up classic DL threads. Well I say classic, I mostly mean old. Anyhow, was fresh in the memory rather than "search bad predictions".

Bumping off deadpool picks by jinx is a long standing DL tradition. We've all done it. Recently I was looking back over the earlier DL success threads and had a smile at this classic from OoO, which spelt doom for 2 DL picks within 19 days! There's also this underrated classic of the genre: See also Life is Beautiful's "Fats Domino will see 90", msc's "Reg Presley's doing better, I think" and of course, Death Impends "Abe Vigoda is on the mend..."

Mudd later left the Tory party and stood against them in Camborne, a chain of events that led to a Tory/Lib split and a Lib Dem MP off the back of the Iraq War, while David got 2% of the vote. I hear the head of the constituency Tory party turned to the guy and said "your name is Mudd to me now".

For the stats chasers among us, here's the Drop 40 record since 2004 (when there was enough teams for a Drop 40 to be relevant): 2004 (6/40) - Reagan, Alice, Wray, Arafat, Benkner, Lauder, 2005 - (13/40) Pope JP2, Mills, Heath, Best, Schmeling, Callaghan, Pryor, Eddie Albert, Doohan, Gretchen Franklin, Rehnquist, Wisenthal, Fahd) 2006 (7/40)- Ford, Pinochet, Hussein, Barbera, Rawls, Al Lewis, Davidson 2007 -(10/40) Astor, Lady Bird Johnson, Messner, Tomlinson, Al-Tikriti, Pavarotti, Al-Bandar, Mercado del Toro, Yeltsin, Manning) 2008 (5/40) - Heston, Pinter, Clarke, Christodoulos, Hofmann) 2009 (12/40)- Swayze, Robson, Richard, Ted Kennedy, Allingham, Goody, Fawcett, Tony Hart, Patch, Malden, Atkins, Jackson 2010 (6/40) - Wisdom, Foot, Rubinstein, MacCorkindale, Hopper, Dio 2011 (6/40) - Jong-il, Taylor, Hitchens, Ballesteros, Ford, Falk 2012 (12/40)- Al-Megrahi, Gibb, Etta James, Patrick Moore, Geoffrey Hughes, Andy Williams, Niemeyer, Borgnine, Clive Dunn, Shamir, Sykes, Stynes 2013 (11/40) - Mandela, Thatcher, Chavez, Biggs, Winner, Nolan, Cecil, Wing, Franklin, Kimura, Cliburn 2014 -(11/40) - Jaruzelski, Sharon, Wallach, Paisley, Rooney, Crowe, Attenborough, Farmiloe, Kasem, Dora Bryan, Jardine 2015 (4/40) - Sam Simon, Denis Healey, Christopher Lee, Leonard Nimoy 2016 (13/40) - Gabor, Crowe, Ali, Castro, Feek, Reagan, Granger, Angelil, Bhumibol, Marks, Ford, Aherne, Havelange 2017 - 15/40 - Forsyth, van der Westhuizen, Glen Campell, Downie, Christie, Sallis, Brady, Booth, Jerry Lewis, Snuka, King Michael, Skellern, Meads, MT Moore, Wetton 2018 - 14/40 - Bush Sr, McCain, Rev Graham, Stefansson, Cryne, Jowell, Elias, Lima, Miller, Nevin, Ricketts, Hawking, Stan Lee, Norden 2019 - 12/40 - Bracknell, Clive James, Mugabe, Ricksen, Doris Day, Harper, Blanco, McCririck, Vervoort, Conway, Clegg, Fairlie 2020 - currently 8/40 - Kirk Douglas, Terry Jones, Andretti, P-orridge, Doleman, Moss, Scruton, Gascoine) Bold is the current record holder - fair bit to go to challenge that one!

20% of the DDP Drop 40 dead before May. With Trintignant, Greaves, Gulpilil, Tom Smith, Trebek, Banali, Ginsburg, John Lewis and Prince Philip all still beathing. I'm away to check the Drop 40 record...

A shame to say the great Jill Gascoine has died, although that is a hideous illness she suffered from. Also a shame to say she died a year she wasn't picked on the DL.

Hah, take it as a compliment on your own skills as a deadpooler that we are this late in the month and I am still time watching on the match like Fergie.
-
FFS, what'd you take me for, someone who goes round telling little kids the truth about Santa?

Someone I should have noticed died in 2015 but I didn't, and they didn't get a mention on here was Tales of the Riverbank creator Dave Ellison. Just remembered that show there and thought to myself "the guy who came up with it was doing TV interviews a few years back, I wonder if he's still about." The answer is no.

Not dead. She was on Channel 4 News tonight. 86 now and starting to get on a bit but I think she's got a few more years in her yet.

What are you doing to kill the boredom.
msc replied to Lord Fellatio Nelson's topic in DeathList extra-curricular
I'll give it my best shot. Bou's Dad doesn't know how to use the internet. Apparently you don't need to use the internet if Eastenders is on the TV. If he did use the internet he could have found his porn online like a normal person. But instead he went out of the house and got caught by the local police buying naughty magazines during a lockdown. Meanwhile, Bou's ex-husband (not to be confused with charon, Sir Creep or anyone else I am forgetting) is in hospital presumably with coronavirus. He thinks Boudicca is responsible for coronavirus. I can only presume he thinks he married an Irish Banshee who is cursing him. Or something. If Boudicca did have this superpower, which is a bit like Richard Burtons in The Medusa Touch which was on TV last night, then she would use to get rotten Tories to do themselves in or catch coronavirus. And hopefully not piss taking Scottish members of Deathlist Forums. Boudicca did not cause her ex husband to get coronavirus. Boris Johnson did, presumably by shaking his hand. Boris did a lot of that after all. But her ex husband mistook her for Boris Johnson, which seems like an insult to most folk. I suspect an Irish Banshee's Curse here. Something about drugs. Probably Irish code for drugs. I think that covers it all. -

Aye, happy birthday, Joey.

Charles Furneaux strikes me as someone who will get a Times obit in his 80s...in about 20+ years time. Neil Hughes's life, on the other hand, feels like it will catch up with him before too long. Although Michael Apted himself might struggle to make the next one. He's 79 now.

Ricky Tomlinson looks like, well, an ancient version of Ricky Tomlinson these days.

I'm sorry for your loss. Take care.

Mostly because I forgot about it after chatting with Willz, and I tend to assume SC is a stand up guy most of the time, so figured it'd be settled until Not Deathray brought it back up. It did seem cuntish but I'm also aware, coming from a city where "Ah fuck off ya mad bastard" is a friendly greeting, that meaning can be lost on the net. I don't recall Zorders bringing up your dad (as I said, memory, sieve) but that was cuntish too. Consistent! For a mad Corrie loving bastard, I was fine with 90%+ of Deathray's posts and those I didn't I just ignored. The bored spamming was a bit annoying but that's still a far higher ratio than many others get. So I hope he comes back when he's less bored. Or is allowed to. Till then, welcome to that mysterious new poster we don't know. Really, people get too bogged down on trying to inflict their own drama on everyone else. I really don't care who hates who because of what, just don't clog up threads with it. It's mostly folk who are old enough to be Morbid Kid's parents too! I don't care what peoples politics are here - none of us are Nazis, are we? Except for the Nazi, of course, but I think he's gone now. Some folk have opposite views to me, some don't, I don't care about that, I only care about their general attitude to deadpools, crap jokes, and the rest of the amusing stuff on here. The world and the media (including the BBC here) have spent much of the last decade trying to paint everything as Them vs Us, tribal, making everyone seem polar opposites. If you actually got everyone together, you'd probably find a broad consensus on 90% of stuff. OK, maybe not on what constitutes someone being famous enough to be on the front page, but at least that's an argument about content. I also don't care who is shagging who. That is only interesting to the people shagging. Other opinions are available. I don't care about Harry and Meghan and find the long running thread weird about such an irrelevance. I like the Queen. Princess Anne seems cool. Hell, I don't mind Philip, even if he is a mad bastard. Ok, probably because... Charles is a bit daft, and William is practically an Auton, the rest are but farts on the wind. Also, there was no DL golden age. When I started posting on here, there was BC Alum, notaguest and the Pikachu guy in every thread. Godot posted his Things Aint What They Used to Be thread 11 years ago, and if you go further back in time to 2005-6 there is a massive ratio of utter shite to good. There was even that guy who faked his own death. Things seem better back in the past because everyone is getting closer to death by the hour. That's not much zen talk but it is true. Anyhow, there's only one thing that really fucks me off on the forum. People who take part in deadpools and don't read the fucking rules, and then ask a question you already answered. This happened ALL THE FUCKING TIME when I ran the Cup. Right, as you all were, then. Chill or what not. PS I didn't set out intentionally to make this my revenge for all those times I make a crap joke and come back to a War and Peace length reply but it is what it is.

Yes, come to think of it, when I say I don't like other 21st century double acts, I basically mean the Little Britain duo. There's also Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton, if they count, but they do Inside No 9 which is great.

Robert Webb is a very lucky chap. Basically: routine medical showed up major heart issue, emergency open heart surgery, on mend. Tsk tsk, Gooseberry Reaper, don't go picking on one of the few 21st Century double acts that are actually funny (note - other opinions are available and may no doubt flow forth) in your 2020 kill 'em all.
