He's a great pick for the list but one I'd personally like them to fail with!

    50. Joe Bugner

One of the big name boxers of the 70s, a contender for the top belt but was unsuccessful against Ali like so many others. Now in a care home in dire health, a very good DL pick, sadly.

    19. Clint Eastwood

Eastwood, Hackman AND Duvall. The trio.

    Thoughts On The 2024 List

Hopefully if Tom Baker dies they don't replace him with Peter Davison...

    Thoughts On The 2024 List

Bugner, Beckenbauer, Tom Baker, Sly Stone, Buzz Aldrin, Ted Turner, Brigitte Bardot, Fritzl, Flack, Rantzen, Barenboim, Brokaw, Julie Walters, Blix, Gene Hackman, Draper, Clint Eastwood, Patricia Routledge, Glynis Johns, the Pope (Francis I assume!). On paper that's the greatest bunch of new picks in ages. My one grumble, not picking Davey Attenborough feels a bit risky.

    The 2024 Crowdsourced Deathlist

Buzzi and the Duke finished in the top 60 but started too slowly, and were both over 50 points from a qualifying spot. Faithfull finished miles off, nearly 200 points off the pace.

    The 2024 Crowdsourced Deathlist

DROPS Ruth Buzzi, Duke of Kent, Andy Taylor, Marianne Faithful, Randy Jackson DQ’D (due to only 25 names from 2023 carrying over) James Watson, James Earl Jones NEAR MISSES Sandy Gall, Brigitte Bardot, Michael Caine, Rupert Murdoch, Albert II, Buzz Aldrin, Prunella Scales, Mahathir Mohamad, Joan Plowright Full list will be revealed in an hour or so once I've had time to look over the new actual DL.

    Derby Dead Pool 2024

I sent it to that email and didn't but then, from memory, the auto-reply has trouble with certain Email providers. I'm not worried as I never get the auto-update but am in the DDP each year!
  19. It'd be very this government to pencil in the one month of the year they'd been advised not to have an election. It'll be October, though I am open to May as its closer.

    Hooroo, Mate.

Actually quite surprised, he was a prominent political documentary maker going back decades, in with the Chomsky crowd, and a recognisable face about 20 years ago as a regular critic of Bush and Blair. Like a few of that era, he seemed to go from criticising Bush to supporting Putin in later life.

    Derby Dead Pool 2024

For the 13th time, Pan Breed is in. Good luck everyone. At least this time I learned my lesson and didn't swap one of my picks at the 11th hou... no, hang on, that tradition continued.
  23. Gooseberry is usually Mystic Meg on these things so only fair I make two quick predicts. 2024 is a leap year. Previous leap years have seen the reaper go a bit nuts on A Listers. There were more celebs dying in 2017 but you remember more of them from 2016. The DL record will be smashed. Of the twenty five being carried over there will be a huge number of dying, old and very frail people. A number of returnees look on their last legs. There's some decent newcomers out there too. Unless they absolutely fuck it up DL24 should start with a very high floor before the vagaries of death hit us.

I love The Gunfighters. Cracks me up no end.

    King Charles III

Yeah I understand that. Not a yewtree name but I had similar with Cheggars "hello fellow kids" approach growing up. I much preferred Terry Wogan who'd make a joke out of his being uncool and out of touch. Incidentally I found out after he died that Wogan detested Savile and had personally blocked him as many of Wogans TV stuff as he could.
